AFI TELEVISION PROGRAMS OF THE YEAR
AMERICAN HORROR STORY: ASYLUM electrocutes audiences with equal parts terror and awe-inspiring audacity. Creators/Producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have committed an insanely talented creative ensemble to tell these bloody tales – some of television's darkest hours, set beautifully aglow by the incandescent Jessica Lange.

Coven was trending more on twitter and less scary, thus the higher ratings. Most people you actually speak to put Asylum (or sometimes Murder House) as the best seas
Coven also had bonus points due to how well-received Aslyum was
I'm wishful thinking here, but what are the chances of Gaga committing herself to more than eight episodes and we just haven't found out? Like, she might have only signed up for eight because of her schedule, but after clearing what she had to and freeing up more time, she's signed on for more? I mean, eight is loads regardless, but the way Ryan is tagging this series as hers, you'd think she'd do more, since usually most of the main cast is present in every episode.
The arguments here are totally useless. You either stan for the dark, gritty Asylum or the comedic fairytale that is Coven. There's no such thing as to which season is better. They're like 2 different pairs of shoes and unique in their own ways.
I like both seasons. Coven was a nice change from the psychic yet fascinating storyline of Asylum.

Tbh. I feel like the fact that they're all really different stories separates them. Like some stories are more enjoyable but they don't have to be directly compared either.
I think Asylum was almost flawless executed, it had strong points in every part of the show. Coven failed at many points, but the characters are iconic and the story in the first six episodes were pure gold, very entertaining.
imo Asylum is better than Coven not because of its type of horror, but bc it was a truly well thinked, created and performed piece of work. but both own singulars strengths.
