MESS!
P!nk is gonna get hate from HALF of the ATRL for the Miley and Gaga shade
I don't think she was even focusing her comment on Gaga, mostly on Miley. But c'mon, it is Alecia and she does NOT care one bit. Like she said, she only cares about touring
Can we all just take a moment and appreciate the awesomeness of "Long Way To Happy" and that it PHYSICALLY HURTS to see her perform this song live when you know the back story of this song?
If the story that Butch told about the lyrics of this song is true (and why wouldn't it, he's one of P!nk's best friends), it is literally HEARTBREAKING.
And the metaphors in the lyrics of this song make so much sense when you think about the background of it.
And the gestures during this live performance... I just can't...
1:30 - 1:33 .... the gestures speak for themselves. It hurts. SO SO much.
Even the gothic girl dancing makes sense.
...and the sigh towards the end... as if she was relieved that the song was over, but also relieved that she could sing and power it off her chest.
No freakin' wonder she never really talked about the background of that song herself, although she did an interview for Flashmob NYC where she did a little "behind the song" thing where she explained the meaning of some songs of the album and also said something about LWTH, but I can't remember anymore.. I just have the picture in my head that she didn't say very much, just a few words and then moved on to the next song.
And no freakin' wonder she only performed LWTH twice (in NYC and in Ischgl).

Let me go cry a bit now.
I die and come back to life EVERYTIME she sings these particular lines
Quote:
Now I'm numb as hell and I can't feel a thing
But don't worry about regret or guilt 'cause I never knew your name
I just want to thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart
For all the sleepless nights and for tearing me apart, yeah, yeah

"BW: The first time that [Pink & I] did the vocals to “A Long Way to Happy”—which is a song that Alicia and I did—it was written about her having to deal with being raped as a teenager by a cop, which was brutal for her. We had never even known each other before she expressed this to me, and I said “Well, obviously when we go into the studio it’s going to be [a] pretty emotional time, so let’s make sure the vocal goes down naturally”, and sure enough she was practically in tears when she sang it, and I don’t blame her. I don’t think you have to subscribe to the mentality that you have to bring the person to pain to sing and give a good performance. You just got to let the song be the song and let it do the work. Some songs are meant to be taken lighter and some are not. She definitely let that one fly. "
oh god...
That poor little girl. Also, when you think about it, maybe she also sings about this experience (besides others) in "Conversations With My 13 Year Old Self" (which I love and adore by the way).
I love how people run into these "P!nk shades..." threads to share their brand new thoughts on how P!nk is a man, etc. I mean they don't even try to clever about it, they just flat out say it. And they probably think they're so damn hilarious!
I love LWtH to death, it should have been a single. It was listed on a sticker when I bought the album saying it was GOING to be a single, and I was SO pissed that it wasn't.
I've always hated the way that Flashmob performance of it sounded though. That music was just no.
