I wasn't supposed to be driving when it happened to me... I was 15 at the time, it was the day after Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows came out (I queued for 8 hours! ). I hit our own wall when I was going out the gate.
I think it varies from state to state. In Illinois you cannot get your license until you are 16, but I seem to remember that my cousin from Kansas was driving legally when she was like 14, with, I'm sure, some restrictions.
I got my permit last month FINALLY. I tried to get it when I was 15 and 9 months but my vision was too poor and I had to get glasses. Then I waited like 6 months later....
But I finally got it. I was like the only one in the room who passed. Everyone else was failing...
