Laura is now down to one song ("Devil's Spoke") with this elimination. This definitely isn't my favorite from her, and I think she had at least three songs that should have placed higher than this one, but y'all disagree! The melody in this song reminds me of another song, and it's killing me that I can't remember it right now Hopefully it will come to me!

This song was my introduction to Paloma when I first started this rate, since it's her debut single. The opening instrumental is really cool with the guitar, which sorta makes me think she might be a mainstream pop-ish Bat for Lashes or something, but how wrong was I?!? I just wish there weren't so many contradictory elements in this. Like, the pre-chorus (bridge) is SOOO serious, but then the chorus is camp as **** This peaked at #17 in the UK.

Paloma now only has one song left. This song got seven 10s. I think it may have benefited from "recent single syndrome", in which an artist's latest single does well because it's new and stans haven't gotten bored of it yet. The song's a pretty typical story of dating someone who's just gotten out of a bad relationship. This song may also be about Paloma picking up the pieces of Duffy's career and trying to make something new out of it. This song peaked at #7, which means it is Paloma's first Top 10 single.
