Eh… I hate to say this, but I think your fears were well-founded. As R&B goes, this is too slow and tepid for my taste. I like my R&B light and fluffy, what can I say? I will say this, though; Emi has a hauntingly beautiful voice.
swiftie13
You know, Bowie is one of those artists who I think I’d become a fan of if I just took the time to listen to his discography. And I know quite a few Bowie songs, but I’ve never really perused his albums, you know?
This is all a long way of saying, thanks for giving me this, because this really clicks with me. It has the folksy charm of the 60’s pop that I’ve always had a soft spot for (yeah, I know it’s not actually from the 60’s). And the guitar solo halfway through, while not overly impressive, is oddly soothing.
Temporal
Normally I’d bitch slap you for being so flippant with me, but I actually kind of like this. Reminds me a bit of the jazz/big band records my dad would play for me when I was a kid.
Xedretinz Lododnz
I LOVE this song. I still remember hearing it in a taxi one night in college and being absolutely entranced. I can’t say that I was ever a huge Muse fan in general, but this one… this one works for me. Bravo!
jpow
Wait, is this the Kelis I’m thinking of? Damn. I kept hearing that there was a lot more to her than “Milkshake,” but I never believed it until now. As soon as those horns kicked in, I was hooked.
Kingie
Well, your essay was pretty accurate. As a vocalist, Nell seems to capture that same sense of vulnerability and earnestness that Mr. Ed does, and I get the sense that I’d be quite touched if I could understand what he was saying. Not that it’s necessarily a problem that I can’t; hell, I listen to non-English music all the time.
As for the song itself… I don’t love it, but I can see it being a grower.
Witch Privilege
Ah, Def Leppard. The legendary hair metal band with the one-armed drummer.
I can’t say that glam rock is my favorite rock subgenre, but I’ve always found it rather charming in its ridiculousness- and this, of course, is no exception.
Hugamari
You know, I’ve always known that Charles Manson made music, but I never actually heard any of his songs until now. As folk ditties go, it’s no masterpiece, but it’s charming and inoffensive, and I don’t think it’d be fair of me to dismiss it outright just because an absolute monster wrote it. Bad people can still make good music, after all.
fireaero
An anthemic, passionately sung foot-stomper, underscored by chugging guitar riffs... just what the doctor ordered. I liked a lot of the songs this round, but I don't think anyone nailed my taste like you did.

I wanted something that had more of a unique flair to it, something really odd and exciting both sonically and conceptually. I feel like this is middle of the road.
swiftie13 - I'm getting a google search of "Asian pop song" with this entry. It's not what I was looking for at all, but it is cute I guess. Too nursery rhyme-esque for me to ever want to listen again.
Temporal - I'm glad you didn't just pick some random Kpop song! The instrumental is pretty cool, and more aligned with what I was expecting. I don't care much for her vocal, it actually brings it down for me, but the beat is somewhat infectious.
XL - I'll start by saying I was not excited when I saw "P!nk". It has an early '00s style that I don't always love, and admittedly I probably wouldn't want to listen to this again. However, its a decent risk and I think you almost got it.
jpow - Technically i've heard this before, but lucky you - I love it! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Had this been the first time I was listening I probably would've been in love and have had this on repeat for an hour after finishing judging.
Kingie - I was a little nervous about what kind of Kpop people would recommend because I do have certain things I like more. This is pretty strong though, it has the qualities I was looking for and was new to me! It's overall a pretty good song, I like the darker feel and the instrumental works nicely, but I agree with you about the chorus. Up until the chorus I was sold.
Witch Privilege - This is the second song that i already know about. Blood Orange's release is actually one of my top albums of the year so far, and this is in my personal top 3 too. I love that you actually looked at what I was suggesting and went a different route, you nailed it.
Hugmari - I like that you actually took advantage of my willingness to help! As you can expect I don't know any Hello Venus albums so this was new to me. It is definitely what I was hoping for, appropriately fast-paced and energetic. It's no "I'm Ill" but solid nonetheless.
fireaero - At first I was unconvinced, I thought it was a little bland for my tastes, but then the chorus hit and I was actually intrigued. However it ended up a little repetitive. I'll probably not revisit but its decent in the end.

Kxvk – I don't exactly understand what out of the songs I chose resembled this at all? I mean, this isn't bad, but it's definitely a lot more pure jazz than my tastes. This choice just seems kinda random. It’s okay but I wouldn’t listen to it myself.
swiftie13 – I can definitely see why you chose this, it makes a lot of sense. I do like this, sweet and chill, but it is a little bit underwhelming. It’s an enjoyable listen but doesn’t make me go like “wow, this is great music.”
Temporal – Bitch is this really the type of stuff I listen to? This is like low form off-brand pop music. It doesn’t hurt me to listen to or anything but it’s so sleepy and unexciting…
Xedretinz Lododnz – So I’m definitely not a Lily Allen fan and when I saw you chose a Lily Allen song for me, I was like “what the hell.” But actually this was a really good choice! You caught that, like, neo-jazz feel I like and the pop sensibilities. Good choice actually!
jpow – This song sounds okay but it’s really dry and dull. The whole time I was waiting for this to go somewhere and it didn’t. I mean, I guess near the end drums came in, but it was kind of underwhelming. I wasn’t a fan.
Kingie – Okay, so I get why you like this, but why did you choose it for me? I see your reasoning but honestly I’m not getting weirdness and wackiness from this at all, it seems really generic, complete with “oh oh oh”s and cheerleader chants. Okay song, but not really for me.
Witch Privilege – You really came through this round, because this was such a smart and educated choice. I need to get into James Blake. I really like this song, it’s very deep and cerebral and has a very interesting texture to it. It does kinda go nowhere but it’s short, emotional and free-form enough that I can deal. Drag me in that description though!
Hugamari – So this is both easy and hard for you. Easy because you have a good sense of my tastes, but hard because you’ve already shown me so much stuff. This was a great choice though! It combines slight jazz tendencies with those sleek electronic textures. I really enjoyed this. Chill yet interesting and attention grabbing. Also you know I love pitched vocals.
fireaero – Did you give me this just because I ranted to you about my love for Spiral of Ants? Anyhow, this was okay I guess, but it didn’t really go anywhere or interest me all that much. Not much interesting going on texturally but I appreciate the risk.

Oh. My. God. These results throwing me for a loop.
Well, congrats to Witch Privilege, Hugamari and Xedretinz Lododnz!
You three will be discussing together and deciding on one Flop Trinity member to eliminate. You can choose from Kingie, Kxvk and Temporal. You will not be choosing a player for immunity.
Please PM me your decisions within 24 hours.
Good luck to the FT members!

Thank god! I was especially nervous about what song to pick for you because my taste in music is so different.
And wow, these rankings are so weird

Thanks so much XL.
By the way, here's a new callout chart! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
It shows placements for every round. The "average" I generated is very inaccurate compared to the raw averages but I still calculated it if you're interested. (Let me know if you don't understand what I'm trying to express by saying "raw average" dd)
