The Sims 4 is kinda less about expanding the franchise and sort of more adding depth to the current system. Like The Sims 3 Lifetime Aspiration has one goal, where this has like 10 goals etc.

& thats exactly it. Other that CAS/Build Mode & Emotions(which can be argued) it feels like they added nothing. I cant remember who said it, I think it may have been IGN, "the sims 4's biggest problem is the sims 3 exists."
If the sims 3 didnt exist the sims 4 would definitely would have gotten a lot more praise, despite missing features that TS2 has (pools, toddlers, stores etc) it would still have been looked at a huge step foward. Something new & exciting.
TS4 will probably be amazing a few EPs in, when they add stuff that should have been in base game & hopefully NEW things that we've never had before, everyone will probably love it.
