It works because Gaga already has a history behind herself of the music she has released, the things she has done, what she used to stand for / represent & that's why we stan/love her. Not saying this is good/bad, cause that's literally the case for most big established artists. But yeah, I don't get why you guys would be surprised with fans not liking it when it's a 180 degree change for Gaga. Even during the ARTPOP era she portrayed herself as a popstar, with this era not anymore.

Yeah I know, Im just referencing it because we have a lot of monsters who end up doing it. You genuinely love her and want music that you enjoy from her. It's all understandable really.
I see it as this, she's already an established act who has made music that I already love and adore, so she is able to go out and expand on whatever music genre she wants to put out there. Obviously, it's gonna come at some commercial decline if it's not what people want, but it's really not all that different from the Gaga we know. When she was doing red & blue, million reasons would have fit right behind No Floods. Now the country esque, flair that is popping up is definitely a little new, but I think it's more folk than country.
I wonder what the country Taylor stans felt.
