I have explained my views on that several times. If I need to, I'll write a second essay and post it in that thread. For now, we're sticking to Gaga/Hotel/Me/the Monsters/etc.

The fact that your a former Gaga stan speaks volumes to me already.
I look forward to the essay though.

It really shouldn't say that much, because it's not accurate. I enjoy her music, that's true. I was never a Little Monster or giant stan dedicated to her the way others on this site are.

I'll start this off by saying this lil essay is pretty much gonna have the same elements Marty's trying to drag me for. There will be negative comments, positive ones, and more mixed ones. If I wanted to shade, I'd shade. I'm not trying to here.
My main issue with all of this is with Ryan. Not Gaga, with Ryan-- It's not Gaga's fault no matter what her acting skills are like. If she's bad, so be it. She doesn't have much training/experience. If she's good, so be it. I'll praise her for it. But Ryan is an idiot, and he'd make a snap judgment to cast her the second he saw an opportunity. I mean, we have Gabourey Sidibe, who is honestly one of the worst actresses to ever enter the AHS cast, and he had her in 12 episodes of Coven, even trying to bring attention to her name by having her go under "Special Guest Star" as opposed to being lost in the crowd among the main cast or supporting cast. And then Neil Patrick Harris, who was god-awful in Freak Show, had practically an entire episode and a half dedicated to him to develop his character before just throwing him away. There was literally no point in having him there. I realize this sounds like a dig at Gaga, but I already tried to explain it's more about Ryan and his stupid ideas. Like I literally just said, if Gaga's bad, so be it. If she's good, so be it.
I'm mostly upset about the fact that it seems-- and I could be wrong-- that she's going to be our centerpiece of the season. Jessica Lange being the star of the show-- literally, the star, since she's arguably the biggest actress on it, while also always being the focus-- was not a good thing. Ryan showed, very obviously, that he was trying to please her and show her off throughout the show, and the show has suffered at times as a result. Characters (and actors) that deserved focus were denied that in favor of Jessica, and Sarah at times. With Gaga being the only 100% confirmed person to be in the show, how she's confirmed for the main cast and so on, it seems she's likely to be our Jessica. Not to compare her to Jessica in terms of anything, but it seems to me she's likely to be a character that's focused on more than anyone else even in the main cast, which is disheartening cuz that takes away the opportunity for other people, especially queens Lily & Frances who deserve so much better than they've been given.
My posts where I have bantered with TheGreatestThing are only ever half-serious. I wouldn't say any of those things to Marty or Phenex. That quip about Gaga dropping out of Tisch was a joke. It's a literal fact that she dropped out, but I was only trying to get in a kii about it. I don't think that has any indicator or impact on her acting. The post that Marty quoted with the bolded last sentence also falls into this; I was already called out for talking about Gaga's acting several times by then, with people saying I'm using it as a guise to get at her (which is not true; I'll stick to that), so I added that in there.
As for her acting skills, it's honestly a real concern. I'm very mixed on it. I've stated it over and over, and I know you're all sick of reading it, but I'm just stating it one last time for the context of this essay. She does not have very much-- if any-- skills in serious acting. It's a very risky move on Ryan's part to cast someone like that, regardless of who it is, because we don't know how good they-- or she-- could be. Anyone would raise questions if someone inexperienced was cast as a lead role for a major TV show. Hell, I've been in theater/acting classes since my 8th grade year. I'd get scalped if I was in Gaga's position. But the difference is her star power & her name; the main reason I'd get dragged (and I probably will for even making this comparison) is because I'm not a celebrity. Which brings me back to the idea that Ryan really does focus on star power compared to anything else.
I realize how badly saying any of this has seemed. I can understand that it seems like I'm constantly trying to shade her or drag her for anything, but it's really not true. I have very mixed and confused feelings about her on the show. It was unexpected, and I've already stated my views on her acting (both in other posts, and in the previous paragraph). My concerns are legitimate, because this could either be a great move or a bad one; I don't really see it just being a neutral move.
I don't care to go on any further about the Monsters posting in here, or my shade towards them, because I'm over that. I won't perpetuate any arguments with that.
My main issue, at all times, is Ryan, because he does stupid stuff and ruins his shows so easily when they start out so great. It's not a problem with Gaga; she just happens to be the person put in this position that triggered this. It would've been the same reaction if, say, he hired Nicki Minaj as the lead. Nicki has some acting experience, and she's a big enough star to add. That's not as bad as a comparison as me bringing up Katy, earlier. But like I said, it's always an issue with Ryan. Gaga happened to be the actress he cast, and I still think it's a risky move since we don't know much about her as a serious actress.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I'd prefer if y'all wouldn't try to just laugh or find some way to CLOCKT cuz that's not what this is about. I'd also appreciate if it was read; if you really aren't, please don't just post "BYE @ that article" or something along the lines of that.

Your wording and tone is very different here than it was in previous posts.
This I can accept and defend. My compilation of posts earlier were probably taken out of context but to me they seemed like slight digs which made me doubt you.
If this is truly the way you feel then i'll leave it at that. I won't drag Emma anymore out of spite

Yeah. Because I was always trying to add a bit of a kii to everything; the concerns were real, but I didn't wanna put a damper in the mood of anything by getting too serious, so I see why I came off the way you said.
But thank you for actually reading all that & understanding. I'm honestly nervous & excited to see how she does.
BUT WILL FRANNY BE IN MORE THAN 10 EPISODES?

blkjg;
I just can't DEAL with how great Frances is. Ha playing a sensitive deceased and sensible maid, then the Angel of Death, then an extravagant and eccentric witch, then an incestuous and seemingly delusional mother. Queen. So glad she plays a huge role in my season.
I mean, if Gaga's good, she can share all the screentime she wants with Franny.
Which reminds me, that Emma actually acts pretty well when she's sharing the screen with really great actresses. She was good on her own as Madison, but also really excelled in her scenes with Jessica & Frances in Coven. I won't even TALK about Freak Show cuz Maggie was a disasTAH.

Bye @ that ARTICLE
No, seriously. I agree 100% with XO. The biggest fault falls on Ryan in this case and Gabourey is exactly the example that came to my mind as well because, even if Gaga auditioned for him, that doesn't mean she's necessarily good. Of course, being a fan, I hope she'll do justice to her role but the fact that her acting debut (I will NOT count those 5-seconds cameos or MVs) is with a lead role on a BIG show really concerns me. If she won't I will be the first to say how bad she is. I ain't here for any of that delusional blindstanning!

Only times Maggie seemed good were when she was with Angela though, not a complete disaster after all.

I guess it was all in the attitude/tone. I'll be more clear from now on.

bjk;
She wasn't that good in Orphans, even though I was glad Emma got screen time that episode. The scene with her, Angus & Desiree was kind of cringe-worthy, but the scene afterwards and then the one with Bette & Dot were good.
Her with Desiree when Desiree was cooking and just before they went to the museum was neither here nor there, but I might have been distracted by Desiree's "I don't like riddles" line.

I'm living for love the drama in this thread. Something needs to keep us going until Paleyfest.
I don't agree with all aspects of your dissertation, XO, but I see the sense in most of it, and respect you for typing it.
WaiT @ the real news being XO's status as a former Monster? What kind of reverse Warholian experience?

Do you think they'll give us any more information until Paleyfest? I don't want to wait another 11 days with only knowing the title and one main cast member.

Do you remember when Ryan said he was going to ask a "real legend" (male, too) to join? I'm curious if that's going to play into something revealing at Paleyfest.
