Girl, it is their job. It isn't serious at all though. People don't care about a music's metascore. Now films, on the other hand, DO count on metascores and percentiles so it is very important that they keep their record as accurate. It's not embarrassing at all. E-mailing for clarification is the exact opposite of that, it's the mature thing to do instead of melting down and getting angry over it. In the real world, when adults have a problem with something, they discuss it in order to get an answer. In addition, these people get paid to be accurate and so if they're not we should be the one to bring up the issue.
