I actually gave up halfway through, with Star Ocean I didn't even try

I'm currently playing Skyrim while i wait for Zestiria and Persona 5

Well, I have both, but I think the vita has more classics RPGs from PSX, you can have all the FF up to X-2, and all the Persona games, except for Q. If you have a ps4 too, you can remote play most of the games.
If you are looking for games outside of the RPG genre, then pick 3DS since it has more diverse genres with like games like Mario Kart, Mario 3D Land, GBC/NES games, the upcoming Zelda: MM remake, etc.

Seriously, the game is already a huge time commitment to begin with.

Yeah, Star Ocean was just ridiculous. Which sucked because I played the **** out of it, 200+ hours more than once. The achievements you had to earn for it though were ********.

Is the Star Ocean game on the PS3 any good? I tried to get into Till the End Of Time, but the battle system didn't really click with me, neither did the characters.

The battle system is really good, similar to Tales Of, it's really complex too.

The story is ok, very corny and cliché, the mc becomes incredibly annoying quick, the english voices are SO BAD they're good, one of the only games i actually played using Japanese audio.

Overall a good game, and since it was made by Tri Ace there's a lot of postgame content wich is great.

Ughh why are jrps almost NEVER on sale on psn, this is why they such a niche

I love Resonance of Fate! But be aware its a pretty challenging game.
