A school day later, I've solidified my opinion: that chorus is infectious, but I now realize that I honestly should not like it. It's a guilty pleasure at this point, and considering I stan for the chick, labeling it as a guilty pleasure probably isn't a good thing. I'm sort of wary about the fact that there's 3 Dr Luke songs, Starships, and possibly Marilyn Monroe on this album; not because I don't think I'll like them, but because if those singles get enough success, she's gonna continue to lean towards pop, and honestly I like hip-pop Nicki the most, but these songs are just straight up POP, and it's starting to bother me that out of the songs we know, we know/heard 3 hip-hop songs and 6 pop songs (assuming Va Va Voom and Masquerade will be pop). That's a scary ratio and could kill the pop/hip-hop artist I fell in love with and develop the basic pop artist that knows how to rap a bit.
I just need Roman Holiday to get released on iTunes and have its epicness distract me for a few weeks until we finally hear a new hip-hop song and my nerves will be calmed.

This song is ****ing everywhere -- and not in a good, popular way. I mean, production wise.
It's starts off with this fun summer guitar - breaks off into this astronomical chorus -- then the grunge breakdown on the tail end of the chorus - with the ballad bridge and the nursery rhyme in the second verse. The song isn't consistent, it doesn't flow well - and ultimately the song is all over the place.
It's an identity crisis for the ears.
And don't get me started on Nicki's verses. All I hear is gibberish until the "Starships are meant to fly..." kicks in.
Not pleased.
Red One could have done better -- and Nicki's verses are getting whacker with each song. Honestly at this point, she needs to use rapping as a side-project, b/c I think she sings better.

Trash. Everything she has released this era, so far, is not cute.

I just hope that this is one of the few Pop songs on the album. I love it, but maybe about 4 pop tracks will be okay. I'll satisfied if there's at least 12 Hip Hop tracks on it.

I honestly love everything Nicki in Starships but I'm just saying (and this isn't just for Starships), Nicki NEEDS to show us her skills as a lyricist. I want her to slay, but also to make sense
JAMMING TO STARSHIPS ALL DAY THOUGH

The first part of the chorus and the bridge is so good....but overall the song has too much going on....and final chorus is just an orgy of ear numbing noise.

Now everybody let me hear ya say ray, ray, ray
Go spend all your money cause its they pay day
And if you're a G, you're a G, G G
My name is Onkia, you can call me Nicki
