How many prayers for The Boy Is Mine to not be #1
I bet it was the last minute #3 -> #6 decline you talked about
hopefully

The 2nd (US) single from Never Slay Never. It was also Brandy's first song written by legendary pop writer Diane Warren. The song actually managed to go #1 for two weeks and took the spot from Britney's BOMT (or maybe took it off the top spot, I don't remember).
I love this song a lot. Me and supa agree that it's one of Diane Warren's best, but he goes further and says "Only Brandy could get me to suspend my distaste enough to enjoy a Diane Warren power ballad this much. Too bad the rest of the song can’t match the lush subtlety of those opening harmonies and instead indulges her usual bombastic tendencies."
I disagree. I think the song finishes off perfectly. Although I don't enjoy it as much as I did, say 3 years ago, I still think it's an amazing song and perfect for Brandy. The way she sings, she really gives it her all and that's all I need from her
Fun fact about this song: Although it was used in many movies/TV shows, the most iconic and probably most desperate is the time it was on Moesha. The episode, titled "Brandy Meets Moesha" has Moesha (played by Brandy) meet her favorite singer who she bears a striking resemblance to: Brandy. It's basically about how they got tickets to the Brandy concert but Kim lost them, so they have to try to sneak in and have Moesha pretend to be Brandy. Even the embarrassment mistakes Moesha for Brandy (I wonder why). The episode ends with Brandy lipsyncing to Have You Ever.
I would link the episode but the quality is HORRENDOUS, so just take my word for it

I can't at Shoutin' & Squealin' being in the top 10. It's a **** song with good vocals. So many better songs could have taken it's spot

How I feel about almost the entire Afrodisiac album

story
I started being active online at like... 13-ish. I already owned FM and NSN, but I had no idea Afro existed. I had never seen the videos or run across the album at any store. I thought Career Departed was her first single since Full Moon. And, online, I saw people not only mention Afro, but rave about it and call it her best by far. So, I naturally ran to Limewire YouTube, expecting to be slayed. And I wasn't. Nothing on it stood out to me.
Ever since, I've tried to get into it 6 times, the latest one being for the purpose of this rate. That's the most I've ever tried to get into any album. And I just don't see, hear or feel anything. I mean, it's better than Human and her debut, but like...
Anyway, the point of posting this is to explain why I'm the lowest scorer of both Afro singles that got kicked out and why I'll be the lowest scorer for the title track too

Well the lyrics are pretty amazing. & I love the new direction she went with it. The song all in all, sounds Extremely personal and it feels like the first time Brandy actually did everything SHE wanted.
It's so short though. Should have been a minute longer

Really?! I love this album, it's so chill and cohesive.
It actually kinda got me through a depression. Those smooth, soothing vocals just did it for my soul.
How I Feel may be my favorite track from that one.

See, I get that the album isn't for everyone, but it's honestly SO forward and timeless. The soothing vocals on Focus and lyrics REALLY go deep. I Tried has an insane instrumental & takes the balladry she was so used to to a complete other level. The vocals give chills cause you can tell she believes every word she's singing.
Also I didn't like it at the first listens. I thought all the songs sounded the same and it kinda fell flat but the more I listened, the more i realized the cohesion was excellent and how fantastic it all was. I mean, there are duds on the album (How I Feel) but the album is so fun.
The title track is just so uplifting and flirty.
