Yeah, I do. People who act like the ANTI's sound or ambition came out of nowhere are misinformed, lazy, or trying to conform to a certain narrative. She was taking various baby-steps to reach the point of ANTI with Unapologetic and even earlier work. The ability to experiment certainly isn't new, either. I think so many of us love UNA because the groundwork was laid perfectly for her to grow down-the-road. The continuous theme is interesting and genre-crossing music revealed in a poor package. We always say it but when the music become more (and undeniably) personal, more genres are explored, and the circumstances around the release are perfect... she will have her magnum opus.

Unapologetic is very underrated. It is as complete as Anti. Anti only edges it by an inch. I have a hard time deciding between TTT and Rated R (both has two of my all time fave Rih songs, Do Ya Thang and Fire Bomb), they're interchangeable for me.

I agree. I prefer certain tracks on Unapologetic more, although Anti feels more cohesive to me. I can listen to Anti from start to finish generally without skipping any songs meanwhile with Una i find myself skipping songs like Right Now, Numb and Nobodies business.

Hopefully Anti ages like Unapologetic tho. Lov7 Song, Diamonds, LWT, etc are all so timeless.

Just how odd that we came from BBHMM, FFS and Anti Diary videos to Work, KIB and Needed Me (yes, even NM's video is very underwhelming for Rihanna's standards). Also, AO's video is very underrated, it suited the song. NM on the other hand screams "controversy" and there's nothing at all to it. Not even #freethenipple can save it. Damn Rih!

2016 was still very good to Rih. I think this is just the start of her musical growth tbh! Watch #R9 be even more acclaimed.

Although I'm pretty sure Rih can top Anti. There's a catch. Remember how critics gave Anti mixed reviews only to turn around and praise it barely one year after its release. With that comes the expectation for "R9". Add to that how fickle these critics when it comes to Rihanna, she's gonna have a hard time. Luckily, R9 will be released on 2020. God, no!

NM doesn't scream controversy at all. It's classic Miami drug life and classic Harmony Korine (which, in combination or separate, isn't necessarily original --> hence why it isn't controversial) but would've been much better with extended shooting. It very much felt like they were working with any shots that worked from the quick 24-hour shoot. If you only have 24 hours to film, an "aesthetic" video makes more sense (ex: FFS and Work pt. 2) than trying to create an atmosphere or tell a storyline.

As I've said before, it's no mystery why the videos aren't as good: they all needed longer shooting time but that obviously wasn't in the cards.

The reason why I said it screamed "controversy" is because of all the press it got and also the age restriction on Youtube. I agree with how rushed it looked. NM, despite the lyrics is a very emotional song, an FFS type of video would have worked. I guess, we can all agree that video-wise, NM does not do it for us.

Needed Me video was a combination of too many elements.
- it seemed like she got inspiration from Belly, Shottas, and BBHMM yet no real storyline. A simple intro giving a backstory would've really helped the video come together.

But overall we've seen that aesthetic from Rih before with PIU so at least for me that's why it was lacking replay value.

All that effort they put into the ANTIDiaRy videos could've been used for the actual ANTI videos instead.
I'm still pressed about that.
