With all the acclaim ANTI is getting, her next album has the potential to be as acclaimed as selftitled by Beyoncè.

IMO, ANTI's AOTY chances have everything to do with the angle the Academy is going for rather than anything really related to Rih. When LOUD was nominated, it went up against several pop albums (Gaga/The Fame Monster, Bruno/Doo Wops, Adele/21... and then the Foo Fighters lol) which is pretty unusual. Usually there's an attempt at genre (+ racial) diversity while respecting critical acclaim and overall success. If they are following the normal formula then there's little room for Rih to fit. Even if they were to snub Drake, they wouldn't include Rih because a black woman (Beyonce) is already a lock.

The only way I see her getting a nom is if they choose to nominate more black artists because of the backlash they got... or maybe more women... it would invite a lot of publicity and I think whatever genre doesn't make it would seethe due to getting locked out. I guess the other option is mainstream success but I doubt it for this year.

David Bowie- Blackstar

In my mind those are guarantees. Drake/Views would be one but he doesn't play ball with them and publicly drags the Grammys. They don't always care about that type of thing but considering there's always a weird snub, he seems the most likely.

I guess my main point is this: Considering what a weird year it's been in terms of everything (), I wouldn't be surprised if the Academy went for a different AOTY formula. So while I don't think her chance is above 50%, I don't think it's nonexistent, either.

- still think it's a stretch but happy people are finally acknowledging Anti for what it is. A great album!

Rihanna might be this year's dark horse.
Adele, Beyoncé, David Bowie, Drake, and possibly Radiohead are your best bets for Album of the Year, which would seem to fill out the category. But Rihanna's Anti is not to be overlooked. It's the best-reviewed album of her career, it spawned one of the year's biggest songs in "Work" (perhaps a Record of the Year contender), went No. 1, and has the added bonus of taking risks. Staunch as the Recording Academy may be, they like their pop stars to show growth. The Grammys have also already given Rihanna a previous AOTY nom, for 2012's Loud, an album that never even went No. 1. If Rihanna sneaks into Album of the Year this year — and thus making the category lean heavy toward pop, a move the Grammys traditionally don't like to do — it shouldn't come as a shock
