The vocal is great. She sounds better than Sia would have if she had sung it. No stanning aside. If Sia had sung it she would be doing oo much per usual and I dont want to hear her cracking all the time and putting it pff as "art or emotion".Rihanna sounds very crisp and her tone resonates. It's just a Soundtrack single so I never expected much once I knew Sia was writing it. Maybe if it was Diane Warren then I'd care more. Hopefully she does this at the Oscars.
Sia is one of the writers, why wouldn't it sound like her song lol. The banging D key in the first few seconds is kinda nice. Girl knows how to create a mesmerizing hook. Rih's vocals are so on point too.
This is a Sia song. She should've sang it. You can tell it's a Sia song. This sounds more Sia then Cheap Thrills. Rihanna even sounds like Sia here. You can't tell what she's saying, the only way this song could be more Sia is if Rihanna wore one of those wigs covering her face. This is a good song though.
I like Sia, but like, it's so obvious that she wrote it. That's not a bad thing, but like, maybe try some other things.
K I listened to it a couple more times and I like it a lot! It obviously sounds like a Sia song, but every song Sia writes sounds like a Sia song
No the problem is mainly that Sia records her own demo's. Sia basically already creates a certain mood and tempo along with a melody for songs and does that to her own personal patterns. I would be very interested if Sia would hand over her lyrics, what would happen then. I feel if a producer and an artist, in this case Rihanna would be able to create a complete different song. Since then she would not have to hold on to certain song patterns or ways of singing. Rihanna probably got a proper full song from Sia with the demo and it is hard to step outside that while recording a song that is already made.

Nobody would pay for Sia her lyrics, they're usually (& this is based on what I've heard her write for other artists so don't @ me) quite generic and formulaic. But it would be interesting to hear what kind of melodies people would come up with if only given lyrics tho
