I was reminiscing earlier today about how my house burnt down from bushfires in 2002, and how I never think about it or talk about it because I'm so used to it, have dealt with it and have moved on.

Have any of you been affected by bushfires/floods? The weather here is so ****ed up it's dangerous.

I live in Morwell where the mine fire was so that was pretty fun. Fires were 1km from my apartment. I would go outside and the sky was a dark grey and ash was floating in the air. I wasn't able to drive to work in Melbourne because they closed off the freeway. The next time I drove down it was kinda scary because all the trees were pitch black, the road signs and even some of the railings were all melted.

The place I was living at went totally under water when Brisbane flooded in 2011. Luckily my friends and I were insured, so we found it kind of funny (unfortunately, though, many weren't and lost everything). The clean up was an absolute nightmare, and I've never had so many strangers in my house helping me clean before, but it was nice to see the city band together. Needless to say, as soon as we could - we moved out.
