I know people thought it was rude of him. But she didn't really have any fans in the US.
He got slammed by critics & the GP after the first episode aired, and some advertisers/sponsors pulled out when they found out she had left.

She does have fans in the US. Just very few

He didn't get slammed cause she was popular though. He got slammed cause he was an asshole.
Yeah, not many people know who she even is in the US...
I guess that's what happens when you refuse to let you're label release your music in the US
If Demi could have like a little piece of Cheryl's UK success and vice-versa
Don't forget it only took him less than a month to get rid of Cheryl and this was after she was paid and after auditions had started. At the end of the day 'Anything Could Happen'
It was because nobody cares about her in US and also people couldn't understand what she was saying
But while Ms. Lovato and her peers have millions of fans aged roughly 6 to 11 willing to watch their shows, buy their CDs and go to their concerts, their success is not measured well by traditional metrics. No solo single of Ms. Lovato’s has cracked Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart.
“Top 40 programmers are a little hesitant to play some of the younger Disney acts,” said Gary Trust, Billboard’s chart manager. “They may not appeal to older teens and people in their 20s. Miley and the Jonas Brothers are the only ones who have broken through.”
How well Ms. Lovato can do beyond Disney’s horizons won’t be clear for some time. “We don’t want to alienate her first audience, which is the Radio Disney audience,” Mr. Konowitch said. "We live there."
So Hollywood Records didn't want Demi to have an older audience? what kinda.... I CANT!!!
How would it alienate her younger fanbase if they send her songs for adds?
I mean if she did really excessive and mature music, yeah it would alienate her fanbase.... but that's not the kind of music she did, why would the kid fans care whether the music gets played on Top 40 radio or not
