For sure it's better than Born to Die or Paradise but she didn't top Ultraviolence. And I doubt if she ever will.
It's a good album, Terrence Loves You, The Blackest Day and Salvatore are some of her best songs but then again, it has trash like High by the Beach or Freak and God Knows I Tried is dire. Kind of inconsistent, some of the lyrics are pretty ew (you're my religion, that ice cream line etc.).
I think it might grow on me but I must admit I'm satisfied.
it's so cliche here to think that BTD is her best album but i truly think it is, not necessarily bc its the most "pop" influenced but bc songs like This is What Makes Us Girls, Blue Jeans, Off to the Races, NA, etc. all told a specific and cohesive story....hers. honeymoon feels very unsure, almost a clash of artistic direction...maybe she was confused with what she wanted her message to be, what SHE wanted to say (which she also did very successfully on UV) theres something off about the album...hazy, almost.
it's good....really good...great even, but not her best
I'm so adddicted to Honeymoon the song right now. The melody is heaven, the first 30s makes me feel like I'm in paradise. It's (for sure) the next Cruel World.
