I usually just lurk but I'm just popping in to say that I think it's horrible that people feel the need to say she looks chubby or gained weight tbh. Yeah it's your opinion, but there's just some things people should keep to themselves. Especially when we know that it's exactly those type of comments that pushed her eating disorder/bad self esteem etc further. Personally, I know it would have a negative effect on me if I read that about myself, so I would never say it about someone else.
My opinion is that comments like that aren't going to go away and not everyone is going to treat Demi as a special case so she has to learn to deal with the comments (which I think she's done really well). For instance not everyone is being hurtful when they say she looks "chubby". Their is nothing wrong with chubby and if you treat it as an insult more and more people will see it as undesirable.
I agree Demi looked a bit chubby in the video, but I don't see anything wrong in that

No one, calebrity or not, should have to just learn to deal with those kind of comments tbh. They're just rude and imo it kinda just shows how effed up our society is when people, especially girls, have to learn to just deal with comments about their weight rather than us teaching people not to say it. So many girls have self esteem issues because of comments like that. It's ridiculously hard for anyone to not have a negative reaction when someone calls them chubby, regardless of if they mean it in a bad way or not.
In my opinion even chubby is used negatively in our society. My point is that in the mind of a person that has had issues with their body every slightly negative comment would be bad.
I'm really thin and i hate it, but it's just my body type.. and i can eat whatever i want and don't gain weight and it's horrible... and I just remember people always saying I'm really thin and should eat a bit more, not even meaning it negative.. but that was almost an insult to me, a punch in the face.
You learn to deal with it but it never goes away imo, and it's still not appropriate when you know the person has/had issues. But maybe it's just me here.
We're already making a bigger deal out of it as it really is though.

You dont get it, its society as a whole that have put bad meaning behind words like chubby, not everyone means it in a bad way and not everyone should be forced to conform and not use these words, The more you consider "chubby" as bad and "slim" as good the more damage you're doing to yourself, to truly not let any of those comments get to you, you have to change your perspective or you'll always have these issues.
A lot of people complain about things hurting their self esteem but nobody does anything about it and expects everyone else to change.
Looking chubby isnt bad, and i'm sure with all the treatment Demi has had regarding body image issues she herself knows that too. Their is a lot of difference between a comment like "Demi looks slightly chubby in this video" and "Eww Demi looks chubby"
You can't expect the change to come from outside, and body image issues arent specific to women, EVERYONE deals with them.
I mean I do get what you're saying but its ridiculous to suggest you ban certain words because they offend some people.

But she recieves actual hate on a daily basis and you cant handle a person with caution for the rest of their lives you know, it works both ways, whilst society as a whole has to be more considerate other people need to grow some thick skin.

Yeah everyone deals with them, but our society is more harsh on women when it comes to how they look. I think most people would take offense no matter how someone called them chubby tbh. You said it yourself that chubby has a negative meaning in our society, which means it is gonna hurt people if they get called that.

its not a definite insult though, not everyone means it as an insult so you cant just say "oh please stop using that word, because certain people dont like it"
In this specific case I dont believe what Mr Duff said on the previous page was insulting in the slightest but I do agree about people being careful and considerate about the sort of words they use, being considerate is lost on some people.
well, yes, but in my opinion these comments are totally inapropriate when we all know that such comments made her want to lose even more weight with an unhealthy behavior. People can say whatever they want it's just unnecessary and inapropriate. And this is my opinion which i can express aswell, so at the end we're at the point where everyone can say anything.

Demi did look weird in the video but also the video was shot in a weird way they really zoomed IN her face and the angles were really awkward and weird.
this doesn't look chubby to me
Demi gets criticized enough by everyone else, it wouldn't be too much to ask to not over criticize her looks on her own fan thread but that's just my opinion and how I feel about it
