Music of the Sun has more variety in terms of sound, imo. Not by much, but it has
"Pon de Replay",
"Rush",
"Let Me",
"Music of the Sun", and the ballads,
"The Last Time" and
"Now I Know". All of these songs have a different sound from each other, and the overall sound of the album is a little jumbled to me.
A Girl Like Me appears to have the one sound, which is basically the
"Dem Haters"/
"Selfish Girl"/
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" sound. I know AGLM has more sounds than just this one, but when I think of AGLM, its the only sound that comes to mind. Even the rock-inspired
"Kisses Don't Lie" appears to be full of the Carribean flare found throughout the rest of the album.
"We Ride" is more R&B than the rest of the album, but it still holds the Carribean flavour.
Overall, while I enjoy both albums immensely, I would have to go with AGLM, because it explores different sounds while keeping the core sound in undertones and sometimes the forefront. It's a solid album that really uplifts my spirits.
