i am from NOVA you know and i like to think i'm not an asshole >_>
but actually that attitude is really prevalent there, i can confirm. but NOVA really is way different from the rest of the state (having lived both there and in other parts of virginia) so i don't think most people there really understand how it is in the other parts. the south vs north thing is actually pretty common all the way up the east coast, and that's really just another manifestation of it.
except people in the southern part of the state listen to way too much country music and that offends me deeply

I agree that a good amount of people in NOVA don't know much about other parts of the state but this is an area they should know about. I mean, y'all have the corrupt politicians and we have celebrities and military because of the base. If you ask me, we're better. The eye candy alone >>>>
I do agree about the country music thing though and it's horrible. Only country music stars like Carrie (who was just here actually) have concerts here
When Delirium was out first, I used to hate it so much
