Annabelle was kinda ****. It didn't really *go* anywhere substantial and there were so many clichés. It was sorta promising at the start but the characters were just so cardboard and unlikeable except Alfre Woodard's so the ending didn't grab me too much.
I've just finished seeing You're Next and... I'm so disappointed! I don't usually believe the hype around movies, especially if they're horror because they're always over-hyped to death. And I already knew that You're Next wasn't exactly an "horror" movie... but I still was expecting an incredibly funny and thrilling movie.
Now I think that the people who praised this movie had never seen another fast-paced movie in their entire life... because that was the only thing I enjoyed in You're Next. The story had so many plot holes, there's no psychology at all, I can't believe that they all react in such a senseless way... I mean, just for example:
they kill the daughter and the only thing the mother does is to go to sleep.
And let's not even talk about how invincible the protagonist was... I don't know, maybe I'm missing the point of the whole movie, but I can't have fun when the director is just FORCING the viewers to have fun. It wasn't even that unpredictable, I was only surprised at the very end of the movie
when her boyfriend is also revealed to be a part of the crime.
I just came back from seeing Anabelle too and I totally agree. It has a few cheap scares and I even actually screamed during a part (), but I wasn't impressed with the plot and the acting was OKAY. Most of the movie was cliques and very predictable.
I thought the EXACT same thing! My friend told me I was wrong though...
