I feel dumb for asking but how do I switch from the desktop layout to a mobile layout on a mobile device? I can't see a function for it anywhere.

at the bottom of your screen there should be "Switch to mobile layout" or something like that. Keep in mind you can barely notice it, so try harder

There is another way. For GChrome:

Select Settings.
Click Show advanced settings.
Under "Privacy," untick the box "Enable phishing and malware protection."
