Visually, TF was pretty much flawless. Musically, TF had the strongest singles of any of the eras to date, in my opinion. Just Dance was the perfect debut single, and Poker Face catapulted her to superstardom. Paparazzi was, undoubtedly, the best song from TF. Every performance was flawless and the fashion was sensational. To this day, Paparazzi remains one of my top 5 Lady Gaga songs. The rest of the album, however, was nothing special. There is plenty of filler, and nothing that screams superstar.
TFM was slightly hit-and-miss when it came to fashion. From outstanding statements, such as the Bad Romance video, to disasters, such as the short blonde wig in the Alejandro video, she was never fully on-point during this era. The music was phenomenal. Bad Romance was a game-changer, while the rest of the album proved incredibly strong.
BTW has had its ups and downs also. VMAJ was one of the performances of her career, while GNTM was also amazing. The singles have been, in my opinion, stronger than TFM so far, and should she release MTN, I will officially prefer the BTW singles to those of TF. The album is brilliant for me. You can really listen to it as an album rather than just a collection of songs, and such coherency is rare in the current breed of popstars.
I have laid out my opinions to you as I would to anyone who asked me, and I must question those who preferred the music from TF. The singles from TF were great tracks, but are you seriously telling me that Boys Boys Boys and I Like it Rough are better than Heavy Metal Lover and Bloody Mary? As humans, we tend to romanticise the past. We look back on what has been and forget about the mistakes in order to think things were better back then. This era has been very successful. The performances have been great, as has the music. Gaga has made mistakes during the BTW era, just as she made mistakes in the past. Because of this, I've just decided to take things as they come, and enjoy the music for what it is!
