I don't think we should vote for each other anymore. It's taking the fun out of it. Nobody is wanting to save Goldfrapp because nobody is listening to her to give her a chance.
Take last round for example. I was in almost everyone's off list, but I was one of the highest (if not the highest) ranked song from the judges. Like, what's the point?

It's not fair at all though.
1) If you don't sign up fast enough, you miss artists that the GP here like
2) Even if your artist might have better music, you still get voted off due to those who have never heard your artist and don't want to bother listening to your artist
Just because it's the sixth installment doesn't mean it can't change for the better.

tbh i think this game is funner and more interesting playing with unknown or unrated artists and as someone who almost got knocked out first round because of it the game would be pretty dull without public voting
people who are obviously not listening to the (new) artists should be punished so vote them off

I'm guessing I still get off votes because of the "no write ups" thing?

01. Truth Teller, JoJo – Far From Heaven
I think this was a very clever selection. The majority of JoJo’s discography was recorded when she was very young, where perhaps you’d never find a song with the kind of maturity and raw emotion she’s able to display here. I loved the song and I think your reasons for choosing it were fair. The way she softly sings the first chorus and belts the second and third is perfect.
9.5
02. Adele Addict, Adele – Remedy
Not an illegal download link. Luckily I already bought the album! I like that you didn’t want to go down the predictable sad song route, especially from an artist like Adele where those songs are plentiful. I enjoy this song far more than Someone Like You just for the record. I still think there were better choices but it wasn’t bad and your reasoning definitely helped your score.
8.5
03. JC_Arrow, Bruno Mars – When I Was Your Man
I’ve never really cared for this song but I won’t deny that it’s a decently fitting selection for this challenge. I think simple and personal are good descriptors for this song but it lacks that emotional punch and your short description didn’t really help with that.
6.5
04. Achilles., Madonna – Promise to Try
This song is definitely emotional, so I think you picked a good song for that. I don’t think I’ve ever really heard this side to Madonna, so it was nice for a change. Your explanation for why you chose the song was good but I think you might have had a bit too much filler, you could have gotten across your points in about half as much writing, and I would have liked to have seen more personal reasons for why you chose this song.
8
05. URBAN, Nelly – N Dey Say
You picked a good selection but what really sold it for me was your personal connection to it and why you chose it. Emotional songs don’t always have to be piano ballads, this was a fitting selection and it touched on some thought provoking issues.
8
06. MusicLoverDude, Carly Rae Jepsen – When I Needed You
Mess, there are so many songs on this album alone that you could select for this challenge. It fits but I don’t necessarily think it’s the most fitting song. That said your reasoning does help it a bit, that personal connection. The song in general seems a little too happy for a heartbreak/rejection/betrayal type song, which is something I find a little odd.
7
07. Almodusa, twenty one pilots – House of Gold
This was… interesting. I’m still not really a fan of the singer’s voice, but to each their own. I think it had a concept that was rooted in emotion but it wasn’t the most emotional song itself. It felt a bit contrived; I doubt the mother would have actually asked those things. It didn’t feel authentic which stopped me from connecting to it, I guess.
6
08. HausOfLuke, Zedd – True Colors
I think this was a great selection for Zedd because it showed a really stripped-back side to his work and the lyrics/vocals are some of the most vulnerable in his discography. This shows that you can pick other emotions other than just sadness and do well.
8.5
09. Yvess, Avril Lavigne – I’m With You
You picked one of my favourite Avril songs. This song is honestly perfect for this challenge, and your reasoning and personal connection only helped. This is pure, raw emotion with a strong production as well. It doesn’t rely on minimalism and simplicity to convey emotion.
10
10. Brodie, Taylor Swift – Ronan
I think Taylor would have been another hard artist to pick for because she has many emotional songs, but I think you made a wise decision with this one. Taylor’s lyricism evidently takes a backseat at times because the message is more important in this song, and that’s nice to see.
9
11. Dollas n Diamonds, Pentatonix – Just For Now
Picking for a cover band was a really interesting choice because it’s going to be hard to convey emotion with someone else’s song, in this case Imogen Heap’s. I think this song was an interesting choice because it’s from multiple viewpoints but it doesn’t explicitly note the changes from person to person. I think perhaps the bass and beat boxing detract a little but it wasn’t a bad selection.
7
12. genetic_fail, Katy Perry – Walking on Air
First of all I like that you went for a positive emotion rather than a negative one, especially when there are plenty of emotional songs in Katy’s discography. It might not be as hard-hitting as perhaps “By The Grace of God” would have been, but Walking on Air definitely conveys emotions of ecstasy and her vocal performance on this song mimics the airy highs she sings of.
8.2
13. Marvin, Ciara – Sorry
I liked this selection a lot. I think love really is the greatest emotion there is, and describing Ciara as “a victim of its flaws” stuck with me. There are plenty of strong emotions in this song, such as love, regret and even anger. You’ve picked a good song for this challenge.
8.7
14. Pecinta Mariah, Mariah Carey – Outside
Comment coming soon.
I’m not at all familiar with Mariah’s discography so I can’t comment on if there were more emotional song choices, but I thought this was fitting. It’s not something I could ever empathize with of course, but I can imagine what the struggle with her self-identity would be like, and I think it’s wonderful that she was able to write a song about that to connect with others who might be in the same position.
7.9
15. Luke, Jessica Mauboy – Beautiful
nnn I know Jessica has more emotional songs than this. Don’t get me wrong I’ve always loved the song, it’s probably the best bop on the album, but it’s not very emotional, it’s pretty surface level, but the bridge helps. I didn’t get much of a personal connection to the song either.
6.7
16. Kyle., Lana Del Rey – Old Money
This was a great selection for Lana as it’s very emotional; I think the three words you selected to describe it (nostalgic, heartbroken and lonely) were perfect. I longing in the way she sings, “I’ll run to you, I’ll run to you, I’ll run, run, run,” is fantastic. It has a solemn feel but also flashes of happiness in the memories.
9
17. Wildcat, Miley Cyrus – Pablow the Blowfish
When I listened to Dead Petz for the first (and only) time, this song definitely stuck out to me the most and it’s still the one I find the most memorable. It’s so beautiful but it’s about a ****ing blowfish and some of the lyrics are so weird but it’s just so emotional. Great selection.
9
18. Legend E, Christina Aguilera – You Lost Me
I think passion is an important thing to note about this particular song; Christina definitely has a lot of it and makes a point of showing it, especially in the final chorus. Another very good selection and I think it conveys the emotions well, and your description is nicely fitting.
8.5
19. Noah, Demi Lovato – Skyscraper
I’ve never been a stan of Demi or anything, but I have always loved this song since I first heard it and it was the first Demi Lovato song I genuinely loved. Something about its lyrics and her vocal delivery is so powerful to me. I think it was a perfect fit for this challenge and the way the meaning behind the song changed due to her personal struggles was a good addition to the entry.
9
20. Remmy, Paramore – Looking Up
You picked a song from my favourite Paramore album, so that’s a good start. Again, I like that you went down the positive route instead of something like “The Only Exception” which might have been a more obvious pick. I do think “Looking Up” embodies happiness and the thrill of “making it”, so good choice for this challenge. I liked that you provided lyrical receipts, too!
8.7
21. Anvarie, Nicki Minaj – Grand Piano
I liked this selection and I think showcasing a very vulnerable side of Nicki was a good choice, this being one of her few all-sung tracks adds to the song because it’s a side of her that she doesn’t show all of the time. It might be a little bit surface-level in parts of the verses and I think it loses some of that emotion in the ending instrumental but overall it was a good choice.
8.3
22. wesleywalrus, Lady Gaga – Speechless
How did you know I listened to this just yesterday? I think you chose wisely because this is definitely one of Gaga’s best ballads, if not the best, in her discography. There are other songs that I won’t name that you could have picked so thank you for not picking those. It’s heartfelt with real emotion and meaning but it’s not sung in a depressingly sad way and has a strong production and melody. I would have liked to see more of a personal connection to it but it’s a fine entry.
8
23. Dust Clears, Lily Allen – Littlest Things
This was a fairly simple and straightforward song but for those reasons I think it worked well. The lyrics were very specific so this is obviously something from a personal place in Lily’s heart but it also caused a little bit of a disconnect because of the specificity. I also felt her vocals lacked any real emotion and they kind of cruised throughout the whole thing. It wasn’t a bad choice but I’d like to think there was better.
6.9
24. Jeiboy=berberocka, Nelly Furtado – Try
I think the song was an okay selection and I was looking for something else in your description to really sell it to me but if anything you kind of lost me there. I’m not sure if this song is about trying to be something else for another or realising the world/life/people aren’t all that great or a bit of both. But I’m struggling to put my finger on the real emotions that are coming through here… confusion, perhaps? Or maybe I’m just the one who is confused.
6.2
25. Rimo, Justin Bieber – Nothing Like Us
This was an interesting selection because most of Justin’s pre-Purpose music has a stigma about it being really superficial and just for teenybopper young girls, but this was pretty decent (granted it was one of his later pre-Purpose songs). It has the classic simplistic piano production with vocals combination but it works and it conveys emotion well.
8
26. Dark Poet, Rihanna – Stay
I’ll make my comment short and simple. This was a great albeit obvious choice for Rihanna but I would have liked to see more of an explanation and personal connection, especially since you alluded to you having a break up. That could have elevated this submission.
7.7
27. prezli, Pixie Lott – Nothing Compares
I liked this choice but on a more critical note a lot of it felt very familiar and uninspired, there’s being too specific and then there’s being too general and I think Pixie’s song is more on the general side. I do think she conveyed some real emotion through her voice though, which was nice. I’d also liked to have seen more from you as far as why you chose the song.
7.3
28. Rian., Rita Ora – Grateful
I think the message of this song is great but the way she unnaturally forces out some of the words, particularly the title, detracts from the song for me. I think there’s a lot of potential to have emotion here but she doesn’t really deliver. I liked your reasoning for selecting this song though and it helped your score.
7.5
29. J P O W, Goldfrapp – Train
I like that you decided to go for a more specific and obscure emotion such as lust, but I didn’t particularly like the song or feel any real emotions if I’m honest. The way you described how the song makes you feel helped your score a bit because I understand that emotions differ from person to person and you gave me that personal reasoning that a few other entries were lacking.
6.6
30. Dessy Fenix, Beyoncé – Ring The Alarm
Fantastic choice for Beyoncé, this fierce, angry side is where she excels in my opinion so I’m glad you picked something like this rather than a ballad. The emotions come through so effortlessly, and there are many different emotions packed into this song as your description insinuates. Your description basically mimics my thoughts on the song, so well done.
9.5
31. Girlicious, M.I.A. – Borders
I do think that this song is making a statement but I don’t necessarily think it’s emotional. It’s thought provoking, it’s interesting, but it’s not conveying any strong emotions, and I don’t really agree about the comment you made in regards to her voice conveying emotion… it’s very monotonous and emotionless. I think it has potential to be powerful or inspiring freedom but the execution doesn’t really get it there for me. Your reasoning did help a lot though.
7.1
32. Christian., Selena Gomez – I Won’t Apologize
I honestly thought this was pretty weak for an empowerment song, the emotion was there but it just wasn’t prominent enough. If you read through the other comments you’ll see I have nothing against positive emotions, but just knowing Selena has “The Heart Wants What It Wants” in her discography I can’t help but thinking that she has other songs that convey stronger emotions better. I think it’s great that you had a personal connection to it though so that helped.
6.8
33. suckergrins, Charli XCX – Stay Away
I think this song was a good choice and both lyrically and vocally showed Charli’s emotions. I like how it almost takes the listener on a journey from during the relationship to after the relationship and all of the emotions that come with that. It didn’t try too hard to be explicitly emotional but it worked.
7.9
34. 113th Post, Hooverphonic – Vinegar & Salt
I think this was an impressive choice for this challenge. I hadn’t heard the song before this (nor the band before the last challenge) and while the first song didn’t really resonate with me, this one certainly did. I love that this song has so few lyrics and it really demonstrates how you can make a real emotional punch with such few lyrics. The orchestral arrangement is really lovely and compliments the song well. Your explanation added to an already good submission.
9
35. Loveyoubxtch, Britney Spears – Stronger
This sounded a bit too much like any other early 2000’s Britney single to me at first but I actually loved the reference to her debut with “My loneliness ain’t killing me no more”, that line alone embodies the growth/empowerment theme very well. I think it had its weak moments too but it actually conveyed the emotion of confidence a lot stronger than I initially thought it would.
8
36. Charting Nepture, Florence + The Machine – What Kind of Man
I really don’t like this song but of course I’m going to overlook that for this purpose. I think it was a fitting selection for emotion as Florence’s vocals are full of it. Every word has passion, whether it’s anger or loving. Your reasoning was fitting and I like that you went for two emotions that weren’t the typical sad route.
8.8
37. gagacasanova, Shania Twain – It Only Hurts When I’m Breathing
I’ve never heard this song before either but I really liked how the verses were written to say the exact opposite of how Shania’s feeling, and the chorus makes that clear by essentially saying she’s always hurting. It’s a creative way of writing and really conveys that emotion of hurting but not wanting to let anyone know. Simplicity done right, I really loved this.
9.7
38. Paramore, Ellie Goulding – I Know You Care
This song got me feeling some type of way. I’ve never been a super huge fan of Ellie but this song was beautiful. Very emotional, raw and real emotions at that, and from what I’ve heard from her discography, I doubt you could have picked a better song than this.
10
39. Oxygen, Ariana Grande – Honeymoon Avenue
I liked this selection because it wasn’t a slow piano ballad but it wasn’t necessarily a happy emotion either. That longing to go back to the way things were, a better time, is a great emotion to harness and this song does that very well, because it’s not an entirely happy or sad feeling. I liked that you had a personal connection to the song, too.
8.4
40. macrocycle, Cher Lloyd – Love Me For Me
I’m familiar with most of Cher’s discography and I think this was a good and powerful emotion to pick. You can tell that she means it when she said that she doesn’t want people to love her if they don’t love her for her. The lyrics you picked out are some of the best in the song too and really conveyed her newfound honesty. I thought it was a good fit for the challenge.
8.5
41. Opium, t.A.T.u. – Don’t Regret
This was another song that was just simply emotional, it didn’t rely on a stripped down production or anything, and the lyrics as well as something about their vocal delivery was enough. Also the reasoning you provided for it being their “last song” in a way was pretty special. I liked this selection and felt the emotions came through naturally.
8.9
42. WillingtonHH, Shakira – Underneath Your Clothes
This song conveyed emotions of love well and having that one person who you know will always be there. They may have been a little straightforward at times, but it worked reasonably well and fit the challenge.
7
43. fiercE, Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up
This song is pretty cute and encompasses those feeling of wanting to hold onto a love forever. Things are bound to get tough and too many people just give in, so I like the messagtion Jason is conveying through this song.
