Paul was adamant that this is not about a prostitute. "Can't Buy Me Love" is also the only English-language Beatles track that the band themselves recorded in a studio outside the UK, apparently.
What the GP had to say:
"This is a song I wasn't familiar with until the rate. I didn't know how to rate it at first. It was kind of just there. But the more I listened to it the more it grew on me," says Buyonce1814. IcarusIsFlying is left a little unsatisfied, and says, "I wish the song was longer, it's a bop." However, Lucas32 isn't feeling it: "The blues influence on this song feels very lifeless. The ending of the video is great though." Great gowns, beautiful gowns.
Glad that Can't Buy Me Love is finally out and I'm okay with AYNIL. But "I Am The Walrus" is probably the biggest shock for me in this rate so far (excluding the fact that Love Me Do is somehow still in this). It's one of my favourite Beatles songs and I was SURE it was going to end up in the Top 10
The first single to be released by "The Beatles", the song initially reached #17 in the UK before re-charting at #4 in 1982. It was #1 in the US. The song was apparently written by Paul at age 16 while truanting from school.
What the GP had to say:
lousaysthings can't fault it: "Just classic, through and through." On the other hand, Lucas32 says it "reminds [him] of a terrible country song".

"And I Love Her" first appeared on A Hard Day's Night and made it to #12 on the Hot 100. Aside from the recording session, the band only ever performed the song once: On the BBC Radio show Top Gear in July 1964.
Julie London has an excellent version of the song which is worth a listen. Also, for some reason, there are a lot of covers of this song in Spanish (1, 2, 3, 4).
What the GP had to say:
"Kind of boring. Forgettable," says Buyonce1814. Lucas32 expresses a similar sentiment, calling it "a sweet acoustic ballad. Nothing more and nothing less."

Stan
Love Me Do is okay. I was too nice with my ratings...
A homage to motown that is an ode to pot, "Got To Get You Into My Life" first appeared on Revolver in 1966, but was released as a single ten years later from the compilation album Rock 'n' Roll Music, reaching #7 on the Hot 100.
Earth, Wind & Fire released a cover version which went on to to sell over one million copies, and the original was also once featured on an episode of Glee.
What the GP had to say:
"So cute and romantic," says superben, "especially after I learnt that this song is Paul's ode to pot." IcarusIsFlying says, "Brilliant song, Revolver was such a masterpiece." Lucas32 feels like the song lacks something: "The brass instrumentation is very well used but it could've used stronger songwriting to make it more memorable." And Buyonce1814? His comment simply read "*sigh*".
