that catwoman movie was a MESS in every damn way, it had a very bad director from thte start
if Bryan Singer does Mystique movie, and he has proven himself to be a great fkn director for the x-men movies,so why not to think he could deliver with mystique movie ?

Ending weekend #2 at over $160 million will put it $12 million ahead of Godzilla's pace, $14 million ahead of ASM2's pace, and about even with Captain America's pace. Assuming it continues to make big money overseas, it should become the highest-grossing X-Men movie ever by early next week.
And this has become par for the course with summer films, especially of established franchises. They're incredibly front loaded and have a massive drop from weekend-to-weekend. It doesn't say a thing about the actual quality of the film itself, however, since DoFP is obviously getting rave reviews from critics and audiences.

To make Captain America 2 totals it'll need ~$500M internationally... that is a huge ask. This movie was always topping Last Stand's WW total but it seems it's not coming for the big bucks most of us were hoping.
Last Stand's drop should have been bigger than DOFP because:
A. It got worse reviews which generally affects domestic money more than international money
B. It made more in it's opening weekend so should have seen a larger drop by comparison
Estimates had it to lose well under 60%, not push past 66% like Last Stand. Only Origins, which was universally torn apart by critics and fans, had a worse drop. That shows people definitely aren't here as much as they were for the original trilogy, despite this movie being better quality and having more star power.

Thank flip for that, too. They were cute at one time, they are NOT anymore. It breaks the fourth wall far too much.

either one of 3 things is going on.
1. people are tired of superhero movies
2. marvel fans are not supporting non-marvel made movies so rights revert bsck
3. people are avoiding this movie because of bryan singer's sexual allegations...
and we SHOULD NOT forget it's coming off MEMORIAL Day
and ever since variety made that article abou JLaw being a huge draw for the movie and people buying tickets for her,it makes me think that's why it made so good internationally first week, bcs it was so froantloaded, and now it's dropping just like every other -x-men movies so far, which is making me SAD since this movie is good :shakeshead:

exactly...
JLAW alone doesnt guarantee any type of success...
and mystique isn't that kind of characters that guarantees success either...
except of wolverine for obvious reasons very few mutants can be considered solid ideas for a movie... Gambit being the best choice since magneto has been touched through the series and now even more with the first class... oh and female super heroes 't haven't proven themselves a good choice....

74% on MC = not raves.
The Wolverine made a decent but not huge profit. Less than, say, Neighbors or Magic Mike.
International box office continues to expand as a whole, so it's not an apples-to-apples comparison to say that this X-Men is doing the best of the series internationally. It would be weird if it wasn't.
T10 domestic box office hits' grosses, 2006 vs. 2013, increased about 38%. Internationally, 63%.
I mean, The Wolverine was the WORST performer for the franchise domestically, yet the BEST (until now) internationally.

I don't think it's any of those three. They were happy to bring CA2 to new gross heights so they aren't tired of superhero movies. The die-hards who want Disney to get back X-Men rights wouldn't affect the gross so dramatically, and most seem happy with this movie. The sex abuse scandal has almost no traction, they did a really good job containing it so it'd be surprising that it'd do much damage...
The US box office is poor overall this week, maybe it's just a post-holiday weekend lull. Godzilla collapsed down again, and Seth McFarlane's movie is a slow opener. Could be just the nature of getting to open on a holiday weekend.
This drop would have been fine next to a $125M+ opening weekend... hopefully it doesn't have such a bad plummet next week but that doesn't seem too likely.
In other news, has this been posted in here yet? I'm already salivating at it and it's surely like over 5 months away

I don't know about you but I saw those bryan singer sex abuse scandal on many sites and forums, people def saw that s*it..
it's completely ridiculous to me that bad movies like transformers gross like they gross, and theN you have x-men movies who don't gross ass much, and ofc THERE is such an amazing difference in how they're received by the critics
x-men is just not really famous in US as I wanted to believe

Except the first Transformers has a better Metacritic score than: X-Men Origins Wolverine, The Wolverine, and X-Men 3.

The GP eats sh*t always. Basic, not too complicated storyline + big marketing campaign + stars + explosions + average jokes = ca$h.

Yeah I saw them around a bit, but not nearly as much as I expected to genuinely. Like TMZ took the lead, most others gave it a throwaway post and left it.
X-Men (the comic) is one of the most popular in the US every year, second just to Spider-man usually. The brand is popular, but the big grossing ones are just lighter movies, and often stupider movies (see Transformers for proof of that!).

Yeah, but then there's TF3, which is the highest-grossing movie in the series and has a 36% in Rotten Tomatoes.

Yet a lower RT score than Last Stand and The Wolverine.
Transformers 1 was a solid movie. Transformers 3 is the biggest mega grossing one of that franchise, and it was absolutely terrible.

I have to agree though. After 9 movies, it gets boring. Probably that's the reason I haven't seen CA2 yet. I'll just watch it when it comes out to "DVD"

The MCU characters are so boring. Cap2 with like no powers and a stupid costume, Thor being Thor. Iron Man is the only interesting character from that universe. Any X-Men > them tbh. But im biased so someone may disagree with me on that.
But of course big explosions and alien invasions bring in the coins
