Just eliminate the people who aren't sending in their entry on time. There's no point in extending the deadline each round to wait for people who probably don't even care much for the game.
Unless you're legitimately busy to send in an entry, there's no excuse. I don't want to see this die.
You're right, I'm no longer going to keep extending the deadline for those who don't submit within the time frame. This game is already slower than I wanted, so I'm not going to keep this going.
The goal of the round was to submit a song that was driven based on anger and defiance. Some went towards an obvious route, while others opted for a more subtle approach. This is not a double elimination anymore, due to Miley and Leona leaving.

'Make Over' was released in 2002 on the 'Stripped' album and it's definitely one of her most angry sounding songs. First of all, because of the lyrics. The song is about feeling the need to get out of an abusive and unpleasant relationship that creates pressure and negativity. These are some of the most aggressive lyrics of the song.
Quote:
It's overkill, now I'm ready to fight
I don't need nobody trying to make me over
I just wanna live simple and Free
I just wanna get away
Saving all your bulls**t for another day
Secondly, because of the vocals. Christina is known for her powerful voice, but in this song she uses it in a very different way. She's not trying to show off or be slick with any runs, riffs and adlibs. It's all about raw power and raspiness. Especially in the chorus.

For the Anger song round, I chose breakin dishes.
Now, while rihanna might not sound super angry, the theme AND Lyrics all surround the topic of the week.
Lyrics like "he gone get it" & " bleach his clothes" , and "yeah I'm twisted" ALL Are the epitome of anger.
I chose Nicki Minaj's Autobiography. It's a deep song. First verse is about when she was younger her father who was a drug addict, burnt there house down and they forgot there mom was still in the house, they got her mom out safely because her mom is not dead, and after that she had nightmares of her dad killing her mother, and how much she hates her father and is angered by all he has done. Secondly, Nicki talks about a boyfriend who she was in love with, but she messed up somehow and they broke up, and after she realized how much she messed up. Afterwards, Nicki goes on about how she was pregnant, but she was young and people told her to get an abortion because they said she wasn't ready for a baby, and how in a way she regrets it.
All in all, this song serves more than rage, but also regret, which is a symptom of anger.

"You said you only needed time to breathe
A little time alone
So who the hell is she?! "
"And you said we should wait that we shouldn't see anyone else"
Karma is about a guy asking for 'a little time alone' and instead going out with another girl. The couple were supposed to take a break and not go out with anyone else but he did.
The Saturdays sing about how this break-up is gonna come back at his karma.
Here are some examples of the angry lyrics in this song:
"Man I hope you choke on some really hot coffee"
"Man I hope that girl only sees the things she wants to see"

Would you like to comment? Whatever"
Haters Anonymous, track number three on Sky's debut EP 'As If!', may seem like an upbeat, jovial, EDM anthem upon first listen, but it is definitely one of the angriest tracks in her extensive discography. The lyrics of the song describe Ferreira's loathing of, as one would expect from the song title, haters. Sky deals with a lot of online hate (most recently for her 'I Blame Myself' music video), so you can tell that she legitimately relates with this song.

In this song Madonna is angry (with herself) because she spent a lot of time trying to be something she's not. Also, the song is about trying to attain an unachievable dream. And when she realizes her dreams and ambitions were pointless she looks back and thinks to herself "I'm So Stupid".
What puts this song in the angry categpry are the lyrics!! The Girls start singing about all the bad things this guy did and how they shouldnt have even been with him and that they are TOTALLY over it! That "Wild Horses" couldnt even take them back to him, and they are OVER him. Sonicallyt, its starts off with a faux choir, which seems like a warning of danger coming, before going into this country/rock fused with dance song, that I feel adds to the anger in the lyrics with its "western" feel.

Even though Janet has quite restrained vocals throughout the song, the true anger lies within the lyrics and the story behind the song. Even though Janet has never revealed who the song was directed towards to, many fans have speculated that the song was aimed towards her ex-husband, Rene Elizondo. Janet and Rene were secretly married, but divorced in 2000. The song is about Janet attacking an unfaithful lover who attempted to mooch money off of her. The song features vocals from Carly Simon as both of them attack their unfaithful lovers.
Lyrics
Ha, ha, who, who
Thought youd get the money too
Greedy mother****ers
Try to have the cake and eat it too
Son of a gun
Son of a gun
You're such a romantic hero
The way you dress and look yourself over
It's no wonder you would ponder that image
Of your greedy self in the mirror
Go on
Sharp shooter into breakin hearts
A baby jiggalo, a sex pistol
Hollerin at everything that walks
No substance, just small talk
Know why youre feelin on that girls behind
You got a sleazy, one track mind
Workin your work until you think you find
Whos goin home with you tonight
Oh, who you gonna give it to? Who you gonna steal it from?
Whos your next victim?
Oh, who you gonna lie to? Who you gonna cheat on?
Who you gonna leave alone?
Oh, What you gonna tell her after she discovers
You dont really love her?
Oh, its gonna be a show down, knock down, drag down
Gun slugger shoot em up
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
Dont you, dont you, dont you
Ha, ha, who, who
Thought youd get the money too
Greedy mother****ers
Try to have the cake and eat it too
Son of a gun
You tell 'em, Carly
Clouds in my coffee
Go on
Clouds in my coffee
Ha, ha, who, who
Thought youd get the money too
Greedy mother****ers
Try to have the cake and eat it too
Sweatin me but Im not youre type
You think you irk me and youre so right
Id rather keep the trash and throw you out
Stupid bitch in my beach house
No, I aint gonna go and act a fool
And be the lead story on the ***** news
Not me, sucker, Id never be your lover
Id rather make you suffer, you stupid motha ****er
Oh, who you gonna give it to? Who you gonna steal it from?
Whos your next victim?
Oh, who you gonna lie to? Who you gonna cheat on?
Who you gonna leave alone?
Oh, what you gonna tell her after she discovers
You dont really love her?

Dont you, dont you, dont you
Ha, ha, who, who

Greedy mother****ers
Try to have the cake and eat it too
(Let's dance)
You tell 'em, Carly
Clouds of various shapes and sizes
Most guys like to evaluate their prizes
We come with so many different tricks
The apricot scarf was worn by Nick
Nothing in the words refer to Nick
Got a chip upon your shoulder, I just knocked it off
Show me what youre gonna do, I aint bout to run
You have just run out of ammunition
(I'm storm cloud, baby)
Shootin blanks now, you son of a gun
(You can roll like thunder all over me)
No, no, no, no, no
Its not what you say, its what you do
Youre so vain
You probably think this song is about you
Dont you, dont you, dont you, dont you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you

I betcha think this song is about you
Dont you, dont you, dont you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
I betcha think this song is about you
Dont you, dont you, dont you
Oh, go on
Son of a gun
Go on
Janet and me, thick as thieves
Never met jet but I'll venture a bet
There's a common threat to our common dream
Tell 'em, Carly
And if it wasn't for that damned cream
There'd be no clouds in my coffee, clouds in my coffee
Who do you think you are, Rambo?
Or a cumulonimbus cavulotus or a cirrus or an altostratus?
Somebody to make somebody like me proud
You tell 'em, Carly
In the encyclopedia of clouds?
Alright now
No no no no
It's not what you say, it's what you do
You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you
You tell 'em, Carly
You probably think this song is about you
Tell 'em now
Yeah, you probably think this song is about you
That's right, girl
Is about you
Go on
Is about you
Go on
Is about you
You probably think this song is about you
You son of a gun
Son of a gun
Son of a gun
Son of a gun

We should stick together. Just like she quoted from Katie Couric: "There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women." and this also involves relationships.

You could hear Bey's anger in "Ring the Alarm" from the very beginning of the song when she proclaims that she'll "be damned if [she] sees another chick on your arm." She continues this anger throughout the entire song because she's pissed off at her man for having a wandering eye, wanting to leave him but having to give him up to a girl she sees unworthy (so basically a ho-bag), and not wanting him to profit from all her efforts of making him a better man for that ho-bag.

For this round, I chose Aaliayh's "What If" to perfectly represent a fierce anger within a track. The anger perfectly shows slickly and perfectly throughout the song. Her voice a little deep, and distraught while she's clearly singing the lyrics IN HER FEELINGS. The song chronicles a man being able to do anything in a relationship, yet controlling her over the same things. She even threatens that she could throw hot grits on her man , cheat, cut, and KILL but all in a seductive way that doesn't make her seem like a psycho. It fits so perfectly to me. A "what if I was in your shoes" tea; kinda similar to songs like Ciara's "Like a Boy". Her voice in the song made the lyrics a lil hard to understand (she was giving Janet teas ) so I'll post the good parts:
Quote:
What if........ every guy i saw
What if........ sittin down at the bar
What if........ I tole him to give me a call
What if, What if, What if, what if
every guy in the place
What if........ was all up in my face
What if........ What would u say
What if, what if, what if, what if
I hate a jealous man, one who doesn't understand
That i'm attractive so of course man wanna take my hand
and lead me off around the corner maybe to thier place
but when they speak you get mad jumping all up in my face
But on the other hand when women come and speak to you
you kiss and hug'um like it's something that you let me do
you're only jealous cuz you know dat ish you put me thru
i might turn right around and do that ish back to you
I hate a lying dude, one who doesn't know the rules
if you gon cheat burn the receipt from the hotel room
but instead you're up in my face saying you were at friends
but they all call asking me where da hell u been
Why they keep treatin us this way
HOT GRITS IS A NEW GAME WE'LL PLAY
We'll burn you (oh), we'll cut you (oh)
we'll kill you (oh)
we don't have to take it no more

Just when I read the title's round I knew immediately that howl would be the perfect choice.
Florence's strongest lyrics + one of her the best songs.
the song talks about how a person you thought you loved you, becomes your worst nightmare and you do not have no choice but to become what that person is, trying to fight against him to get out of that now.
It can also shows how angry a person can be when that ''special'' person shows their true colors and hurts you for no reason.

Hell - Tegan and Sara - Sainthood
This was a surprisingly hard round. When I think of "angry", a hundred songs pop into my head, but barely any of them are Tegan and Sara songs. Their discography seemed to lack a ton of those "**** you", really direct angry, pissed, mad songs. Maybe it's because of their more introspective writing such that most of the anger they express are more passive and not so obvious.
So I decided to use this song as this song has many interpretations, many of which could possibly point towards some kind of anger within them. Tegan was sort of inspired by her neighbourhood for this song for some reason.
"no, I'm not ready for a big bad step in their direction
no, I'm not ready for downtown trash, avoid collection"
"I know you feel it too, these words get overused
when we get up and over it and over them"
These lyrics can be taken in several ways. Some say it's about conforming to social norms, homophobia (they're lesbians) and even about the music industry. But the main feeling is a sort of resentment, a sort of hatred and anti-conformist attitude towards "their direction" and this bigger collective which expect a certain behaviour.

In 5 Years, Björk sends a blunt and shameless message to her ex-boyfriend Tricky. The song starts off light, but gradually grows into a thunderous beat that resembles stomping. "You can't handle love," she sings before howling "I'm so bored of cowards" over the booming drums and distorted production on this angsty album track. The aggressive and vindictive emotion just pours out of Björk as she emotes throughout the song, and it's clear - she's not happy.

My choices, since we need explanations now. SAVE: Rihanna -- Breakin' Dishes (Perfectly shows her anger. "I'MA FIGHT A MAN TONIGHT, I'MA FIGHT A MAN" ) Beyonce -- Ring the Alarm (Another perfect song. Even from the beginning sounds, you tell it's about to go DOWNE). OFF: Nicki Minaj -- Automatic (VERY Beautiful...but this is not angry, at all?! It's sad; and you could've chose "Roman Holiday" or "Roman's Revenge"...) Kylie Minogue -- Red Blooded Woman (As you said yourself, she's not angry at all.)
Omg, the Tegan and Sara song is called Hell, not Sainthood
SAVE
Janet (very cool song)
Rihanna (Spot on)
OFF
Kylie (There is a glimpse of anger I guess, but compared to the rest it's not as strong)
Nicki (Sorry, I get what you mean, but I guess it's more regret than straight out anger, unlike the Madonna song )
SAVE
Rihanna - This was the perfect choice for this round. Would have loved a more in-depth explanation, but the song itself makes up for it.
Janet Jackson - I love the song and I think your explanation was great and explained the entry very well.
OFF
Nicki Minaj - This is a great song, but it would have fit the personal round much more than the current round.
Kylie Minogue - Sorry, but I don't see how this song is angry at all.
OFF
Kylie - I don't think this is angry at all.. Like you said, Kylie doesn't have a lot of angry and aggressive songs, but I think Through the Years would've been a better choice.
Nicki - There is certainly frustration within the song, but I just feel like you have better choices this round and the other entries had more anger. I thought for sure you would've chosen Roman's Revenge or something along the lines of that song.
SAVE
Beyonce - Great choice. You can truly hear the anger in her voice and in the lyrics.
Aaliyah - The production and lyrics really add on to that anger within the song.
SAVE
Aaliyah : Given that I know Aaliyah's entire discography, I understand how difficult this challenge was for you and I wouldn't have chosen any other song. Great job
Kylie : I think you guys are being a little harsh on Girlicious. Kylie doesn't have that many angry songs and I get the description of this entry. I liked it.
Honorable mention : Bjork. I love this song!
OFF
Sky : She's one of my favorite artists in this game and your entries are usually amazing, but I have to be objective and admit this is in my opinion the worst song this round
The Saturdays : I'm sorry, I just don't feel the anger in this song.
OFF
Kylie Minogue (Have you HEARD Impossible Princess..?! There are so many aggressive songs on it. Limbo would have been perfect for this round.)
Nicki Minaj (It hurts me to do this honestly.. You had so many better options. Roman's Revenge, Roman Reloaded, Fire Burns..)
SAVE
Rihanna (You knew you snatched this round when you sent in this entry.)
Beyonce (Same as the above.)
