I don't have an opinion on artists that do this. Most big stars do. I think it probably makes sense for all involved - label artist and fan.

Here my question: Mr. Werde, I have noticed that since early 2010, the Hot 100 articles seemed to start being more transparent with airplay (and now currently, streaming) figures. Before then, it was rarely revealed how much audience impressions even just one song had, but now it seems like every week we actually get concrete figures for multiple songs in the Top 10. Has this always been up to the person writing the article, or was there some sort of factor or decision regarding Billboard being more transparent about the numbers that comprise the Hot 100 chart?
