Why are people still bringing up stuff like "Gaga's era lasted 1 year, while Katy's lasted 3 years". I mean, if Gaga would have succeed with every single she release off of "Born this Way", she would have kept promoting for one more year, probably. She had one of the biggest tours. Every single Katy released sold really well, so I understand why her label made her promote "Teenage Dream" for that amount of time. Come on, if you were owners of Capitol or Interscope, you wouldn't care about the music, you would care about the money. Stop with the lame excuses. I still don't get how this thread have 50 pages of Little Monsters complaining on Katy's sales like she was their favorite.

Not that I'm disappointed, but I'm really curious how somebody who can go from outside the top 40 on radio to (#22) on pop radio alone can only sell less than 300K debut week. Considering the promo that was put into this album (the trucks, itunes festival, the vmas, the radio deal, etc) along with the pre-orders that began in september right?
I'm not saying this because I'm hating on Katy. I just think it's weird for somebody who has the fastest reaching single to reach 3XP (Roar) and with this COLOSSAL digital/radio presence to be unable to sell more than 300K albums in her first week.

LOL
Flo Rida's singles all sold like hot cakes back then and his first week number...
Carly had the biggest hit last year and her first week number (& the album's fate as well)...
Maroon 5 sold almost 500k first week with their first single last year and their album's first week number....
Bruno had hits after hits and his first week number...
Rihanna had 11#1s and her first week numbers...
It's not WEIRD at all
You need to sit and learn the chart again

Lol. These numbers are fine; there not jaw dropping by any means; but for a KP album it's pretty damn good.

Idk why y'all are comparing singles to albums. You all know people are quicker to buy something for $1.50 rather than $13.00, it's not rocket science.
Katy's numbers aren't the best but I wasn't expecting anything too huge. Overtime she'll sell.
But look at Miley! I think Bangerz is gonna go platinum, pretty quickly.

People are doing WAY too much if they're letting this thread get to 50+ pages.

As for the rest of the top 10: Fifth Harmony is No. 3, while Drake's "Nothing Was the Same" and Lorde's "Pure Heroine" are Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

5H could easily debut at #1 with a full album

Katy's fans put it on themselves. Hyping up the album like it was gonna have "Oops!... I Did It Again" first week sales. The PRISM thread went outrageous with views and pages. Then the week before the album came out it went dead.
Now the predictions have come out & are incredibly lower than anyone expected and Katy fans are trying to back pedal.
I can't help to cackle at the comparisions to Flo Ridan, Carly, Rihanna, Bruno...
I don't recall ANY of them coming off an era where the had 5 #1 singles from an album, had the extensive promotion that Katy has had this era or had a huge first week sales of a lead single. I mean, WHERE did all the "fans" that bought "Roar" first week? If she had those people buy the album she'd have half a million sold first week.
Considering my prediction was 300k for PRISM and I was dragged cuz it was "too low", you Katy fans can just use every excuse in the book but it's not gonna make her first week numbers any higher.

Your obsession with Katy is embarrasing. We already discussed about this. Most of her fans expected 300-400k. Nobody thought it was going to sell 1M, only Little Monsters who wanted to shade her because of course that wasn't happening. And shut up, the GP is the reason why Roar sold more than 500K first week, they always here for her singles. But the GP doesn't buy an album because of one song, as soon as other hits are released from the album she will sell more just like she did with OOTB and TD.
I took the time to explain you all this because your ignorance isn't cute. But i won't do it again. Bye.
