Idk if I ever told you Avery, but I'll share this story with everyone. The second concert of the Dignity tour I went to was in Anaheim. I hung out with a bunch of Hilary fans who were invited to the rehearsal. We went in and she was just stunning. Her personality was endearing and she answered questions from us.
Following the actual concert, which was phenomenal in a smaller venue, especially since I was in the first row, the people I was with headed to the area where her tour buses were located. I wasn't sure why but I followed, and just as we reached the gate, Hilary exited through the doors. She was wearing the outfit she wore during the 'Stranger' performance and her team was pushing her to the black car awaiting her. Hilary saw the group of fans, about 20 of us, watching her, and she couldn't resist. She ran from her bodyguards towards the gate and made sure to shake everyone of our hands and thank us for coming to the concert.
I have loved her since Lizzie McGuire, and had just met her three days ago at the concert in LA, but that moment? When her security guards insisted she get in the car and she resisted, just to shake our hands meant EVERYTHING. That solidified my life-long fandom forever.

That is a true artist right there

You do and that's what we have to do to keep this thread going because there is such a huge lack of news.

Honestly it's been so long. I remember a question about her dogs and Gypsy Woman. She said she wanted it to be a single.
I took tons of pictures from that night. Her rehearsal was so cute, she was much more playful, probably because it was just rehearsal. Just thinking about it makes me want her to go back on tour so bad. Lol If her fan club every reopened, I'd definitely sign up this time.

I didn't even notice Come Clean was missing. Hilary's only MTV VMA nominated video better make it on the page soon, ha!

It says submit for me.
And I thought I did but I didn't.
But I definitely loved the TCA's win a few years ago for the same reason as you.

I got chills reading that omg! especially the bolded part.
I've been teaching an intern at work the past few weeks, and of course anybody who spends any time with me quickly realizes I am obsessed with the duff lol. Anyways I was telling her about how when I was 14 and crying about Hilary Duff not going on tour in Canada that year, my dad said not to worry because I wouldn't care about Hilary by the time I was 16. Nice try dad. I'm 21 and she's still my queen!
Anyways this intern asks me "why do you think that is? That you've liked her for so long". And usually I just tell people "her music and movies have evolved and I've grown with them" which is true. I also say "I really am a fan of her as a person, beyond just her work. So I support her for who she is". And that's also true... but then I had to as myself WHY I support her so much as a person. It's because like you have, I've experienced first hand how good of a person she is and how good everyone around her is. Like her mom. Susan Duff changed my life man. I've met Hilary four times and to this day I have never met anybody or any group of people (her mom and managers) who were just so GENUINELY generous and thankful. It was just... so genuine.
The big thing was gratitude. Hilary & co showed me alot of gratitude. They didn't explicitly say "wow we really appreciate you being such a dedicated fan so we'd like to do this nice stuff for you". They didn't need to say it but I could feel it. I knew that's what Hilary meant when she went out of her way to give me a hug and talk to me a little longer than w/ other fans. and I knew that's what Susan meant when she offered to give us more meet and greets and concert tickets, and that's what her manager Tom meant when he did the same thing. Even though they didn't say it, the gratitude and generosity was so genuine. I have never experienced it with any other group of people. But also, I don't usually interact with people who are super famous and therefore super grateful for their fans lol. I'm sure you know what feeling I'm talking about though because I'm sure you felt it when you experienced Hilary running away from the car just to simply shake your hand and show all the gratitude she could even though she wasn't "supposed" to.
Experiencing how amazing and kind she is firsthand definitely helps to solidify lifelong fanship! But you don't even have to meet her to realize it. It's evident in a MILLION ways. Just ONE recent example... becoming a mother and feeling empathy towards other moms and babies and joining the Johnson cares charity. She inspires me in a million ways. I could go on and on but I think this mini-novel is enough for the night lol.
