Synopsis:
The second single off of Back to Black now becomes the winner of the Sophomore Stunners rate! The track features Amy singing about her not-so-good persona in regards to a relationship with a man. It mixes jazz and R&B over a hip-hop inspired beat. I think this is the first time Amy has won an official rate on ATRL, so kudos for that!
Voter Response:
"You Know I'm No Good" beat "The Fear" out by five and a half points, and becomes the winner of our rate. It was leading for the majority of the voting period.
Synopsis:
"The Fear" was the lead single off It's Not Me, It's You and it places second in our rate, coming so close to giving Lily her first win in an ATRL rate. Lily sings social commentary about materialism, consumerism, and celebrity lifestyles over an electropop instrumental. The song got Lily a lot of recognition, both positive and negative, and is probably her most definitive track since "Smile".
Voter Response:
We haven't seen Lily on the countdown for a while, but she managed to make it all the way to #2 with "The Fear". It was leading during an earlier time of the voting period, but it got narrowly beat out by Amy's "You Know I'm No Good" in the end.
Wow, I'm rather surprised "You Know I'm No Good" won—and so decisively, too. It's never struck me as the standout song from Back to Black or the most beloved. But it is a great track, so I can't complain too much.
Nice job, Stevie! You were a fantastic rate host, even if the results were a bit of a mess at times.
