I don't understand why US pop radio is actually picking up on this.

Like, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere on iTunes, she's not doing a radio tour, there's no payola... are they trying to fill some airtime or a quota or something?

Of course I'm happy it's doing pretty well, but it's weird.

iTunes charting and airplay don't affect one another. Look at how many radio fueled hits we've had in the last 5 years, like Mirrors having 220 million AI and barely being 2x platinum or Katy's Birthday reaching 80 million AI and barely gold. Radio tours are more necessary with new acts who have to introduce themselves. As for payola, it's not needed. She had a banner on AllAccess and a Grammy's performance. That's enough for a song to reach 10 million and properly take off.

Fair point I suppose. Oh well, may its slow march continue. It'd be great for her to hit the Top 40 again with a solo hit.

If only she'd do a quick lil' Ellen performance or something before leaving for the Brits.

The Grammys were nice, but it wasn't enough to carry the song's entire run in the US. She needs to do something else, and hopefully soon. I'm just glad that radio has seemed to flock to it so easily.

literally no singles get released as standalone singles anymore, all usually go up as album pre orders.

i don't know why people are expecting this

if people hear the song and like it and go to iTunes to search it, it will still come up, so i don't see the benefit to having 1000 versions of it on iTunes

no, they still release stand alone single. and fans actually buy different versions of the songs. I bought all kind of acoustic/a-capella/radio edit... of my faves' singles
