Not only because it's titled after the month that's synonymous with the season, this song is the perfect embodiment of winter. Not only because of the cold that brings about the sadness, but during December we look back at past year, and we think about what we did, what went right, what didn't go so well. But then again, December is not a complete desolate point. In the far distance, there is new hope. But all we have to do, is to let go of the past and begin again.

There have been many a debate between Lights' fans about the true meaning of "My Boots". Is it a song strictly about the Winter, or is it a cleverly disguised love song? The question has never truly been answered. As abstract and vague this song is, no matter how you interpret the song, it's undeniable that My Boots paints a picture of Winter, and takes you to a different place.

From the tranquil chimes present in the introduction that draw the listener in all the way to the lyrics that describe an alluring wintry landscape, everything about this song screams winter. This track focuses more on the scenery and precipitation that winter brings than the other songs that we chose. A couple lines in the song also describe the love most feel during this cold season ("I wish to melt into you"). A handful of artists have released songs talking about the heartbreaks they experienced in December (i.e Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato), but for a lot of others, it is a time of love.

As people get back into routines they vow to make a difference from before, and this song displays this in a wonderful manner. Not everyone likes the change of autumn, so this song goes the extra mile for staying positive and empowering through this time. Additionally, with lines such as “breeze drifting on by” and “scent of the pine” it’s the perfect opener to the autumn season.
Autumn is notorious for being a nostalgic period of time. After just enjoying summer you're pulled out of its tight womb and back into school, work and colder weather. The leaves on the trees can't help but us remind us of prior times when things were better, when we had something we don't have now. This song may not have many lyrics but they certainly get the point across: the protagonist is looking in retrospect at a previous lover and what went wrong. The song also sounds very minimalistic and downtempo, two common characteristics in fall-sounding music.
In Rihanna's song Diamonds, there is a connection of emotions in the song that relate to the feelings in Autumn. To being motivated by love and affection or to be bold and shine bright like a diamond. But nothing shines brighter than the sun on a crisp and marvelous Autumn day. The song is alluring, much like seeing orange and red leaves fall softly to the ground as they sweep across your face. There’s something so earnest, genuine, and innocently intimate about this season that it is known to be an emotional roller coaster.
