You should message them & ask how they're doing, but make your questions really ambiguous so that when he starts talking about himself, correct him, & say you were referring to the car.

you know it seems like there are so many less ridiculous people on the internet than there were in my 4chan days, everyone that i see now is actually a troll and even the crazy dumb people seem like they don't post stuff that's as stupid as they did back in the day. i guess everyone got a little more self aware. i don't really search around for that kind of stuff anymore like i did then, but the little part of me that still likes that stuff feels sad for this loss. a tragedy tbh
