Truly, I feel that she was the lesser of the trinity.

She was definitely talented, but Aaliyah was the most critically-acclaimed while Brandy was the most commercially successful. They were both very influential in the R&B genre (OIAM and FM had impact). Li's death has made her into a bit of a Hip Hop icon. What is Monica's... ...importance?

Brandy was bigger, but Mo had her shine too. I remember like yesterday Angel Of Mine & For You I Will getting a lot of play. Too bad she messed it up when the new millennium came

Mo had her hits but she barely left her mark before her peak. She missed something (pop appeal probably) that makes her overlooked when put up against the other two.

I agree. I think she did have pop/crossover appeal since she had more #1 hits than Brandy & aaliyah, and she left somewhat of a mark since she was one of the popular teen stars back in the day/influenced a couple girls down the line. Monica just had to fall off due to making lackluster music and trying to be hood.

Aaliyah is not a damn hip hop icon Sure, she was being ****ed and adored by some of Hip-Hop's elite (Dame Dash, Jay, Drake tattoo, DMX), but she wasn't a hip-hop icon by any means
