Can anyone give me a breakdown of how large Madonna's digital sales would have to be to top Leona, Usher, or Mariah on the Hot 100?

Madonna would have needed to get 377,000 downloads to get the #1 spot last week.


My Calculations from this weeks chart:

(audience+downloads)
#1-Mariah: 285+123=408
#2-Usher 131+130=261
#3-Madonna 217+32=249....+160,000 more downloads she would have topped Mariah
#4-Leona 186+54=240

This week(chart next week) she will need to at least sell 90,000 more downloads then Mariah to get the #1 spot, which is unlikely so she will end up either at #2(where she would need to sell 100,000 more downloads then Usher, which is possible) or #3 again next week(unless she cant sell 20,000 more than Leona) then she will be #4..


So it just depends how big of a gap she has between these artist in downloads.

You've got to take into account that Leona's airplay is increasing loads aswell and then so is Madonna's so I think the top 4 will stay the same but Usher/Leona/Madonna might shift about.


& isn't a one-hit wonder someone who has a huge hit but doesn't make the top 20 with any of their following songs? so you can't really call Leona a one-hit wonder if she hasn't even released a follow up to 'Bleeding Love'.

I think anything Top 40 is a hit, so Leona shouldn't have any problem with that, if the label makes smart choices with her singles.

Yeahh, like I think if they release 'Take A Bow', 'Misses Glass' and 'Forgive Me' she should get Top 10/20 hits with them because they're the best three on the album, buttt you have got 'Angel', 'Whatever It Takes' and 'I Will Be' which are those songs which some LOVE but some aren't keen on, so it will be interesting to see what songs they release, althought i beg they do NOT release 'Better In Time' in the US, it just wont do well.

Have you seen how much her audience is increasing? And all the promo she has coming up and the fact the song is great so I wouldn't be surprised if she went back to the top

Maybe after Mariah's album is released (which happens to be exactly the week you mentioned Leona would be #1 again lol). But before that, I think it's highly unlikely. I could be wrong, of course, but that's what I think.

Madonna needs to outsell Usher by around 100k and Mariah by 90k to go top. Leona needs to outsell them by 73k and 63k. So I don't think there'll be any changes this week, but next week could be a gargantuan battle.
