Mariah Carey is on track to collect her 18th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart next week.

"Touch My Body," the first single from her upcoming album, dipped one place to No. 15 on the latest survey. But the fresh availability of a digital download should send the song hurtling to the top next week.

That will push Carey to second place among artists with the most No. 1s in the rock era. The record is held by the Beatles with 20; Carey is currently tied with Elvis Presley.

Carey's album, "E=MC2," the follow-up to her 2005 Grammy-winning smash "The Emancipation of Mimi," arrives April 15 via Island Def Jam.

Asked recently by Billboard if she ever thinks about surpassing the Beatles' record, Carey admitted with a laugh, "I do, because people bring it up. But it's not like I sit around thinking about that type of stuff while I'm creating something. I did write this record in terms of wanting it to be a lot of songs that could potentially be singles, because people like that."

Yes, it's not confirmed, but with airplay and sales, Mariah will be #1 next week, and Madonna could be #2, depending of the amount of digital downloads.

I SO doubt that. Leona is still very strong on downloads and has a way bigger airplay than Madonna.

I'm just glad that Leona slipped in to that top spot while she could, her label picked the perfect week to release the physical single and have her perform on Oprah! And I find it funny that people are saying Mariah should be going top 10, I think it's the most obvious thing in the world that she's going to the top spot! And I feel as if Madonna will already beat the peak of Hung Up this week! I have a feeling she could reach the top this time, hopefully her follow up singles will be just as successful!

I think it would be really cool to see Mariah surpass Elvis and The Beatles eventually, which she may even do in this era if the songs live up to the hype. But TMB is just so horrendous IMO, I hope its reign is only a few weeks and not eternity like We Belong Together.

This idea of her beating the Beatles record has been passing through my mind a lot recently, I feel as if her first 3 singles hit the top she'll tie the Beatles, and then she might aim for a re-release which would give her another chart topper like with Don't Forget About Us. Another idea that would be extremely cool would be her releasing another #1's CD when she ties the Beatles record with one new song, and that one song would be the one to help her beat the record.
