Lots of good feedback. One thing I want to clear up is the concern about parts of the forum looking too much like IPB. The development process is going in stages. Focusing on rebuilding the bigger features (the overall style and theme settings, latest topics ticker, custom prefixes, automated systems, ATRL+, etc) before winding down into the more detailed and secondary areas like specific sections.
The rebuilding process for 4.1 (their latest release) is about 3 weeks old. There are parts of the site that are still being rebuilt. User profile, inbox and some of those dropdown boxes haven't been touched besides basic styling. We're now on version 2 of the theme with version 3 coming later this week.

1. That's what IPB calls it, but we'll be using posts. 2. That sounds about right.
I'm glad you guys aren't leaving the basic IPB look. The pics Marvin posted above look amazing, especially the "Emerald" theme.
