AVRIL LAVIGNE covers RollingStone Magazine
Avril Lavigne covers the January 2015 issue of RollingStone magazine and it is worth noting that the pop rock royalty avided the heavy eye makeup and chose a very natural look to grace the cover. 2015 is truly a year of Change for Lavigne as she shares to us her plans with her music career.
RollingStone: We are very pleased to know that you didn't took a long vacation from the music scene, What motivated you to get back to work asap?
Avril Lavigne: I am really devoted to my music and it's just sad that I don't get to exercise that right on my previous works but Im grateful for those experiences because it totally helped me to find my inner self and do what I love.
RS: You got a new record label and by the news we are receiving, It seems that they are really doing an all-out promotion for your new music and image, How does that feel?
AL: I'm so surprised by the tremendous support I've been receiving from them. You know, I am fine as long as I get to share my artistic vision to the world and that's what Paragon did to me. They let me be myself in the studio, do what I want and to be honest, getting these huge promotions from them really made me feel that I've made the right decision.
RS: Your newest single entitled "I'll Lie To Myself" sounds so fresh and very you. It's like we are seeing your Under my Skin 2.0 again in a very improved way. is it intentional?
AL: Thank you,. First of all, My newest record is the closest to my heart as it really reflects what I've learned from my whole career, personal life and dreams. Under my Skin was my 2nd album and its also personal to me, the only difference is that I was younger back then. So expect my album to be more mature. My latest single truly makes the album worth listening to because It's relatable. Thanks to my producers and co-writers because I feel like Im working with the people who truly believes on my talent.
RS: What's in store for you this 2015, aside from the new single and label?
AL: 2015 would be fun because I'll be promoting my new album entitled "Heartfelt Confessions," The video for my single "I'll Lie To Myself" serves as the era opener, so make sure to check the next singles coz we are making a conscious effort to make it cohesive. Touring as well and collaborations with other artists. I'll be doing tv guestings and do some acting on TV.
RS: Are we going to expect to see you shedding the bratty image off your music?
AL: It's really high time for me to do more mature stuff on my music since It's really what I wanted to do, so yes! But I'm not saying I'll be abandoning the pop side of mine, My album can still serve those bops but of course no more playing this time around.
RS: We heard you have featured artists on your new record, Is chad doing a duet with you again?
AL: No chad duet as of now since I have recorded duets with other artists in my new record. Fans should watch out for those collaborations.
RS: Speaking of, There's a new breed of pop artists that's carving their own name. We would like to know who among them are you willing to collaborate?
AL: Gosh, a lot of new artists from 2013-2014 really made me feel excited to do collaborations, I am fond of Ariana Grande, Meghan TraInor and Lorde. They excel on their respective genre and I'm thrilled to be working with them in the next future.
RS: Before we wrap up this interview, Can you promise us that we'll seem ore of you this 2015?
AL: Yes, I feel that the music i'm releasing this 2015 is really worth the wait and I'm gonna do my best to make everyone feel inspired and feel the passion with my music once again.
Admittedly, 2014 was a tough year for her as she faced a lot of controversies. If you think she won't be able to rise again, Think again. Because you ain't seen nothing yet from the Pop Rock Princess. The controversies made Lavigne more focused and inspired to follow her artistic intuition that proves to everyone that she is here to stay. Recently, Lavigne signed up with Paragon Records for a record deal and it made Lavigne more thrilled to get back to work.
Her new album under Paragon Records entitled Heartfelt Confessions will be released on January 5, 2014.

Ariana Grande’s “Heartbreak” video to be filmed at 48 frames per second, 4K; other details inside
1088 words
![](http://i.imgur.com/txNfvBn.jpg)
LOS ANGELES: Pop diva Ariana Grande’s upcoming video for her single “Heartbreak” (releasing on Monday) will be filmed in 48 frames per second (fps) and 4K resolution, according to our sources. We have also been notified of details such as the plot, setting, and proposed release date. This video will be Ariana’s eleventh video after the videos from her albums Yours Truly and My Everything as well as videos for singles she has featured in, including “Popular Song” with Mika and “Bang Bang” with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, and videos for albumless singles “Put Your Hearts Up” and “Santa Tell Me.”
Directed by Director X, the video is slated to be set in the present day, with Ariana and her backing dancers watching a movie from the 1960s, featuring people that look like them (and that freaks them out). Despite the video being filmed at 48 fps, only the present-day scenes will actually be presented at that framerate; the movie scenes will be shown at the traditional 24 fps. The reason the director chose to use different frame rates instead of just using 48 fps is, according to our sources, because the movie scenes lose the period’s “look,” despite 48 fps seeming more “real,” 24 fps looks more real for the movie scenes since the movie would have been filmed at 24 fps anyway.
So, why was 48 fps chosen over 24 fps? According to our sources, this is because they want to create a larger difference between the present day scenes and the 1960’s movie scenes. While this could always be done by just making the movie scenes black-and-white and throwing a bunch of film grain on it, Director X and Ariana mutually decided that it would be a good idea to experiment with higher frame rates than 24 fps. The entire video will be shot at 48 fps, but only the present-day scenes, but the intention is to downscale the movie scenes to 24 fps. This allows Cayman Records (Ariana’s label) to save money on filming at different framerates. In addition, in the case the experiment of mixed frame rates doesn’t turn out so well, they will still have the extra frames for the movie scenes.
In addition, they can always downscale the entire video to 24 fps in case there’s an overwhelmingly negative reception to the 48 fps scenes, or for TV broadcasts and lower-quality streams. So, if this video were to air on MTV (good joke, I know! Thank you!), they would show the 24 fps version since the technology only allows for 24 fps at maximum quality. 48 fps is technically possible on TV, but it would require using (in ATSC regions) 720p60. MTV uses 1080i60, so it is preferred to use the 24 fps version. The reason why 720p works here and not 1080i is because 1080i does not support 60 fps, but rather supports 60 fields per second. This is equivalent to 30 frames. If we were to send the 48 fps feed through 1080i60, then only half of each frame would appear on the screen, resulting in one somewhat awkward frame for every two, and it would ultimately show 24 fps. It would be much better to just cut the frames in half, split up the frames into two fields of alternating lines, and then send it through that way.
Alright, that was a little long-winded. Anyway, the video will also be filmed and shot at 4K resolution. Why? Our sources stated that it is because Ariana and Director X want to future-proof the video. Have you noticed on YouTube that older videos look worse than newer ones? Well, this is because of the resolution they were filmed and released at. Older videos (before the Vevo era) were generally shown on TV at 480i at 30 fps (576i at 25 for PAL) and uploaded to YouTube at that rate. Now, videos are almost always filmed at 1080p and at their native frame rate (usually 24 fps, but some European artists use 25, but the viewer can’t tell the difference that close together). TV’s current standard is 1080i. Currently, the industry is moving towards 4K content, so Ariana and Director X want to make sure their video can be comfortably watched on current 4K TVs and monitors as well as in the future when everyone is on 4K. It will result in a better quality viewing experience.
Our sources have stated that there were initially talks of making the video in 3D, but they decided to shelve that plan and just focus on making the best quality 4K at 48 fps video possible. Reasons for 3D filming being cancelled were stated by our sources. 3D is very hard to get right, and while 48 fps does solve some issues with 3D (as shown by The Hobbit series of movies), it introduces the soap opera effect. Daytime soap operas and other low-budget TV programs have traditionally used 30 progressive frames or 60 half-frames per second, resulting in people associating those frame rates with those types of programs, and 24 fps with film. This makes any of the Hobbit films look like a cheap production to someone who is not used to higher frame rates. In addition, it can make the set itself look cheap, but this is like how HD, due to its higher quality, allowed the viewer to pick out more flaws. Another reason for scrapping 3D was to lower the budget of the video. For real 3D, you need two cameras set a good enough distance apart to create two different frames that are shown to the user; one frame goes to one eye while the other frame goes to the other eye. This creates a 3D effect. Since you would need double the cameras, it was decided it was best to focus on 48 fps.
The video is slated to premiere sometime next week. I’ve been hearing about a premiere on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve lately, but nothing is confirmed yet. I assume the video would be shown at 48 fps since the special is on ABC, which uses 720p60. Once it is released on YouTube, the 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p (4K) qualities will all be in 48 fps and labeled as such; the 480p, 360p, 240p options will be 24 fps and the last-ditch 144p option will be 12 fps. Personally, I’m excited for the enhanced frame rate, but I know a lot of people are going to hate it. They’ll see the light eventually.
Pre-order Ariana Grande's new single "Heartbreak" coming to iTunes on Monday!

TAYLOR SWIFT AND THE NEW YORK TIMES
Taylor Swift has been one of the leading ladies in music since the beginning of her career, which started in 2006 with the release of her eponymous album, Taylor Swift. Since then the singer-songwriter has released number ones albums such as Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, All At Once, Coven 13, and Electric Princess, all of which have cemented Swift’s spot in pop music as an icon and legend. In an interview with the New York Times this week, Swift talked about her impact and legend status in the music industry, along with her upcoming projects that include a Greatest Hits album due for release in a short amount of time, along with a massive tour and major motion pictures all out in 2015.
First addressed in Swift’s interview with the New York Times was the current state of the music industry. Taylor had quite a lot to say, including about how streaming is taking over the industry in a very fast way:
“The state of the music industry right now makes me really nervous but in a way more competitive and creative. As a strong believer in sales over streaming, I think the state the industry is in really fuels a creativity and competitiveness in me that I’ve never really felt before. Now, I have to think; how the hell can I persuade and get people to go out and buy my albums instead of just illegally downloading it or just pushing a “play all” button spotify. That’s the fun part about it, the worrying part is just the fear that the people who are making this music, the people who are dedicating their lives to this craft others are making money off, not really getting the profit they deserve. This has been a worry for me all along. Even before streaming, artists weren’t get major profit from the sales of their music. It mostly went to the label and no matter how much I want that to change, I doubt it ever will. I’m lucky enough to have a label that compensates me very well and allows me to really express myself freely.”
Reflecting on her previous three album, Swift was pretty quick to give her opinion on each of them currently with no hesitation. Some got a better response from Swift than others:
“Looking back on my past three albums, I would definitely say that the one I appreciate the most is ‘Coven 13’. It did so much for my career. It definitely launched me into this success that would stick for the next albums. The material was incredible, the image I had going on then, it all just really stood out in comparison to my other albums. ‘All At Once’ too was an album that I think I’ll always be proud of. It definitely has my best lyrics when comparing it to my other albums and it definitely is a little more slow and monotonous, but it’s really one of my most vulnerable and raw albums. Fans really love it. Electric Princess. This album I’m sort of really rethinking now honestly. The quality of it is great but it definitely didn’t really have a lasting impact with me. I didn’t wake up and feel like promoting it honestly. I never felt like that with my other albums. So obviously something there didn’t click. I sort of figure that it’s because in comparison to my other stuff, it’s pretty shallow in terms of lyrics and such. If it’d been released by another popstar I’m sure it’d be considered a great album but it really didn’t do anything in the long run for me, unfortunately.”
About some of her favorite music out right now; Swift spoke for quite about albums and singles by artists she’s interested in:
“The music industry is really thriving right now on amazing releases. I’m really digging some of this KPop stuff that’s out right now. They’re always killing it over there and I swear to god I wish I could peak Korean that way I could put out a KPop album. But um-for some music the readers might be a little more familiar with, I’m a huge fan of Charli XCX’s SUCKER album. ‘Need Ur Luv’ and ‘Doing It’ are some of my favorite songs of all time. I had a lot of fun working with her on my Coven 13 EP and I would work with her again anytime. She’s a spectacular writer and person, really. Um, what else. I’m really feeling the Leighton Meester ‘Heartstrings’ album. It’s absolutely incredible and I’m really fortunate to have worked with her on a song that could potentially be on one of my upcoming records. Justin’s stuff is of course great and I really like Azealia’s stuff. I’ve always been a really fan of her stuff. “
![](http://40.media.tumblr.com/55f7ebae47304f03390ee9fccbdac2d9/tumblr_ng2b6k5Lrv1u3ca5ko1_500.png)
About the drama going on the music industry, Swift was pretty open when asked about a current story about two singers in a dispute over a producer, along with her relationship with Katy Perry:
“I think it’s really unfortunate. If there is any drama I think it’s pretty futile. We’e all in an industry full of artists thriving to make music with the people they want to. So I don’t necessarily think those restrictions should be placed. Unless it was intentional from another artist, I wouldn’t really mind it. But I can’t speak for anyone but myself. Addressing things about Katy, I’ll just say the media created much more out of it, including myself, that really what it was. We’re fine.”
About her upcoming projects including her Greatest Hits record:
“The Greatest Hits album is something I’ve been working on for quite some time now. It’s got some new stuff and old stuff that I really wanted to make the record but couldn’t put it on for various reasons. I’ve come so far in my career since my starting days and I really think that instead of releasing a brand new album, I wanted to really put out something that showed my appreciation to the fans who’ve went out of their way to support everything I’ve done. That’s what this album is. And as for my other projects, for example the tour, I really want to give the fans what they deserve; the best. I mean the tour’s going to be pretty extensive in the amount of dates as well as the entire production. And you know I’ve proven myself in the music industry so I think by really focusing more on films toward the end of next year would be a good move in proving myself in another lane I’ve started driving in.”
About her legend and icon status in music:
“The mark I’ve made on the music industry is really weird yet great to talk about. Since the beginning, I’m talking before I was signed and was out in Nashville singing in cafes, putting my demo cd in label’s mailboxes, I’ve had this dream of really becoming an artist who had an impact. An artist who’s not only remembered for crazy performances or her personal life, but for her music as well. To think I’ve achieved that is really surreal and almost emotional for me to talk about. Never in my wildest dreams, did I really believe that those dreams would come true until now. And because of that, I’m more than appreciative for all those who really helped me become this figure in music that can be called a “legend”.”
Swift’s single ‘Style’ is out now along with an exclusive performance of the song on the New York Times' website. Her first ever compilation album, Yours: The Greatest Hits will be released next week.

Ugh, this happened to me yesterday, sorta.
I had like six 900+ word articles for Nicki and all the release stuff for Lorde and Marina on my computer, but I broke it and won't have it back until the new year
Anyways, the tracklist for Trinidad is done, just need two people to confirm their features on the album.
