One Direction have added a second show after their first date sold out in minutes today at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena, with 1,000 fans in the queue - but we have tickets to be won, writes Graham Walker.
Tickets went on sale and sold out in just 45 minutes for their show on March 19, 2013.
But with the biggest queue for tickets outside the building since BBC’s Sports Personality Of The Year went on sale, promoters quickly added another date - which also looks likely to sell out.
The new date is a week after their first show, on March 26, 2013.
An Arena spokeswoman said: “Fans were queuing around the building when tickets went on sale for the first show at 9am today.
“We’ve not seen anything like this since the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year went on sale.
“Tickets for the first show sold out in just 45 minutes. But promoters have now put the second show on sale.”
A smaller venues tour, including Sheffield City Hall, also sold out in minutes last year when Ticketmaster’s allocation went in 10.6 seconds.
