Tegan & Sara debut I love Ho Hey, still gotta hear Stubborn Love. Thrift Shop debuts?
CHR: 11/25
Well at least you admit there's little depth here lol. The highlight of this chart for me is The A Team.

Can’t wait for the best time of the year for ATRL!
That #1 by Metric is very strong with me right now, so intense, M&S is so damn play to epic much as I listen to radio right now potential #! Of the year contender right there esp. for alt.Rock, Loving The Mountain Sounds, It’s madness with Ho Hey blow out, Home was about to grow In for me then turn to the worst for me as it gets more plays than ever, Talk A Walk is epic than ever, c/d fava Killers & TDCC roll on, Lum are a mainstay with their new song, Blondfire song is addicting, LITC down. The PiT! Fun, T &S! Hmm guess Thrift Shop fits in with alt. Rock for some reason as my radio plays them on my modern rock station.
I feel the same about CHR but you can take what you can take right? Bruno’s ambitions wins this month, Skyfall is a killer, shine like RiRi, SHM are gain ground, Ed & Frank are the major new stories of the year, K$ is just K$ with more Satanic in her partying, Example, The Weeknd, Wiz & Weeknd & new A$AP Rocky just jamming. Great chart once again.

Morning Parade's Headlights went recurrent on Alternative in the US. It's Atlas Genius' Trojans that went top 10 and growing here.

December 2012
Modern Rock
In November, I saw both the #1 and #2 artists on the chart live in Toronto - to two totally different results. First up was Of Monsters & Men, quite possibly the best newcomers of the year. They played two sold out club shows that were met by an enthusiastic crowd, whole-hearted appreciation from the band members, and an album that transcended so well live that it led to a genuine excitement I have not felt in quite some time. Case in point, "Mountain Sound" moves up to #1, acting as a sort of consolation prize for "Little Talks" never hitting #1 despite being top 10 nearly this entire year, and actually moves up to #6 this month as well. On the other hand, Metric played a 14,000 strong stadium gig that kinda fell flat on delivery. While the band themselves were totally on cue, Emily Haines was perfect and all the right songs were played, their was a listless dull that hummed the crowd, and not until near the end of the show did people finally seem to wake up. Maybe the stadium was too big, maybe it was the cold weather outside - but something just didn't feel right. Nonetheless, 'Synthetica' is a great album, and "Breathing Underwater" is the sure **** fire winner from that album, and it stays strong at #2.
The Lumineers are making a push to be the "big" new artist in early 2013 as "Ho Hey" hums its way to nearly Top 10 on CHR, and already has been successfull on AAA, Alternative, and HAC - and continues to do so. It has been a top 10 staple on this chart since June. The follow-up "Stubborn Love", may not be equally as infectious, but its solid nonetheless and goes top 10 this month. Atlas Genius continue to make a strong push at Top 10 Alternative and see a resurgence into the top 5 this month, having already peaked at #2 a few months back. Top 10 staples Muse & Mumford remain in the mix, while newcomers Blondfire pack a serious punch with a +9 jump to #7. Hopefully this song can make some noise in early 2013. The Killers still at #10, although I've got their concert in mid-Dec, and the setlists look promising, so perhaps an early 2013 push for "Miss Atomic Bomb" isn't too unlikely, although the song is still struggling to go top 20 at Alternative.
A couple of noteworthy debuts. Family of the Year have a sentimental type of hit on their hands with "Hero" - I think this track has the potential to break out. Churchill are already doing good things at Alternative with "Change", and sees a nice debut. Imagine Dragons have had a big year (do you know they've sold more albums than Muse's '2nd Law' in the US? Yeah. I Know) and finally make it on board with the puzzling "Radioactive" - a song that's the polar opposite of "It's Time" (which also re-enters this month with end of the year buzz starting).
Mackelmore, Pickups, and fun. all see some solid gains into the top 20 - and could be big players in early 2013. Artists to watch on the year end: Of Monsters & Men, Mumford & Sons, Killers, Muse, Metric, Lumineers, Alabama Shakes - gonna be oh so good!
1. Of Monsters & Men - Mountain Sound (3)
2. Metric - Breathing Underwater (1)
3. Lumineers - Ho Hey (5)
4. Atlas Genius - Trojans (12)
5. Mumford & Sons - I Will Wait (2)
6. Of Monsters & Men - Little Talks (13)
7. Blondfire - Where The Kids Are (16)
8. Lumineers - Stubborn Love (15)
9. Muse - Madness (4)
10. The Killers - Miss Atomic Bomb (10)
11. Morning Parade - Headlights (6)
12. Passion Pit - Take A Walk (9)
13. Phillip Phillips - Home (7)
14. Family Of The Year - Hero (-)
15. Two Door Cinema Club - Sleep Alone (11)
16. Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis f. Wanz - Thrift Shop (28)
17. Silversun Pickups - The Pit (24)

CHR
Things look mighty familiar here yet again as Bruno Mars prepares to launch his sophmore album 'Unorthodox Jukebox', and "Locked Out Of Heaven" has a hell of a time landing a second month at #1, fending off a media-saturated Rihanna whose "Diamonds" is slowly turning into one of her most timeless hits. But given she's only made it to #2 thus far, 2012 is the first year in many that Rihanna has yet to score a #1 as a solo artist, as "Where Have You Been" also peaked at #2 granted with a **** ton of longevity, but she did hit #1 with Drake on "Take Care". Adele remains as sturdy as James Bond has been at the box office, as "Skyfall" spends its third month in the top 5.
Justin Bieber has been everywhere in the Toronto media these past few weeks. From his much bally-hooed Grey Cup halftime performance, to his recent 60,000 strong stadium show, hate or love the kid - he knows what he's doing. Having already scored a top 5 hit with "Boyfriend" earlier this year, he's back again with "Beauty & A Beat" - which is easily his most accessible single to date. Companion Nicki Minaj is also back with "Va Va Voom" which just misses the top 10, having already hit that echelon of the chart twice this year with "Starships" and "Pound The Alarm". On the heavy dance beat note, Swedish House Mafia finally make it top 5 with a track that is now situated in the top 20 on CHR. Calvin Harris also continues to show resiliency with Florence Welch as "Sweet Nothing" goes top 30 on CHR.
Ladies, ladies. Kelly Clarkson makes a nice debut with "Catch My Breath" - a back to basics pop rock track for her. She has surprisingly been unable to go top 10 this year, missing out with both "Stronger" and "Dark Side".T-Swift continues a slow descent with "We Are Never", while her new single "Trouble" makes an impressive #10 landing as the song explodes at radio. She'd be smart to simultaneously release "Red" at Country - all the while her album will continue to reap Holiday sales and gun for Adele's title as best selling album of the year. Tourmate Ed Sheeran continues to hold strong as "A Team" nearly goes top 5 yet again.
1. Bruno Mars - Locked Out Of Heaven (1)
2. Rihanna - Diamonds (3)
3. Adele - Skyfall (2)
4. Justin Bieber f. Nicki Minaj - Beauty & A Beat (22)
5. Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child (6)
6. Ed Sheeran - The A Team (7)
7. Calvin Harris f. Florence Welch - Sweet Nothing (4)
8. Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (5)
9. Ne Yo - Forever Now (19)
10. Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble (-)
11. Nicki Minaj - Va Va Voom (-)
12. Frank Ocean - Thinkin About You (8)
13. Kelly Clarkson - Catch My Breath (-)
14. Conor Maynard f. Ne Yo - Turn Around (12)
15. Kesha - Die Young (14)
16. Ne Yo - Let Me Love You (10)
17. Justin Bieber f. Big Sean - As Long As You Love Me (18)
18. A$AP Rocky f. Drake, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz - ****in' Problems (25)
19. One Direction - Live While We're Young (16)
20. Guy Sebastian f. Lupe Fiasco - Battle Scars (-)

"Hero" is going to be a big deal in the States, I can feel it. It feels like our tastes are starting to become more aligned by the month. Perhaps my taste IS leaning more alt than it used to. Still no "Safe and Sound" makes me a sad panda, though.

I agree that alt. rock music has been great and all the artist s helped it last all year and big things are sure to come next year. We just getting starting Is the phrase I will use. Wish I can go to a concert and as of this moment fail to get tickets for a big event in San Francisco featuring most of these Alt.Rock bands. No happy early Christmas from me unless in a long shot somebody wandering offers one. Of Monsters and Emn have been killing it and so has Metric. Lumineers are the ones to watch Ho Hey is a mothe****er and their new one should do fine. That Blondfire song is infectious since I heard in the summer during a mix show on a radio station. M&S & The Killers are the kings this year, Muse tried, Loving that Thrift Shop, The Pit, Carry On are making big moves, Churchill here, Imagine Dragons have truly broken out this year. The Hero song still don’t know what to make of it yet.
Bruno’s latest songs has been interesting, RiRi loves the media attention that‘s where her diamonds shines bright at, SHM & ED making more waves people are liking them which is a change of pace of the crap they like that you have here also, Ne-Yo is good, Kelly’s is growing on me, Battle Scars & A$AP Rocky!
Great Chart this month once again as usual.
