She almost definitely went to Mark for throwback sound. That's his thing - making the past sound fresh. I doubt he or she would settle for rehashes. It's an important piece of work for both of them.

That's just it though. A lot of his recent production doesn't sound fresh. It
sounds rehashed. That's exactly why I'm on the fence. I was hoping she would pioneer a new sound with him, not another Uptown Funk/80s revival song. We already had an entire year's worth of 80s tributes on the Hot 100 and I'm over it. I definitely won't be here for an album full of that mess.
Ngl, I prefer electronic Gaga to Til It Happens to You/Cheek to Cheek Gaga, and I feel like she's going for the latter on this album. That's disappointing to me because I feel like she was at her best when she was doing TFM/BTW type of music. But I love her regardless so if it makes her happy then by all means. I'm still excited to hear whatever she does. I'll likely be skipping out on this one if that's the case though.
