I doubt it, though just because of how successful she was.
I mean, she had a great voice, but compared to the other icons of the 1980s (like Prince, Madge, and MJ) her music is worthless.
Prince's run of classic albums from Dirty Mind to Sign O' The Times >>> Whitney's cute early singles.

LoveSexy is classic too.
Also, IWALY is like THE ballad. Counts for something, and her influence on vocalists. And I don't like her much.

I dont believe that, but then again, till I moved to America I didnt know of Superbowl existence and what is NFL? Madonna = world impact, they can kiss her ass remaining local and unknown.

lol, the moment somebody is commenting on ur grammar ON THE INTERNET (and no baby this is not formal letter) means they lost any argument.

I commented on your elementary grammar because there was nothing else in that incoherent, invalid and nonsensical statement of yours to comment on. Nothing you stated made any sense so it wasn't even worth the time. And I can't lose an argument that had no basis to it.

Such a stupid question, of course Whitney. Whitney was bigger than all 80's artists sans MJ.

Her voice has inspired people. The songs are meaningless.

This is an insult to actually interesting and creative black artists.

Fantastic! Whitney's music is still awful (though the first song you mentioned is alright after some sambuca).

Fantastic! But yes, unfortunately Whitney's music is terrible.

Yep! Her voice =/= her music.

and she revitalized big ballads

OK, you pretty much just made this up. Jesus, even obscure dance-pop singer Madonna Ciccone had a #1 ballad in 1985, before Whitney appeared.

and she was a standout amongst the dance/pop trend that was running rampant in the industry during that time.

Yes, with popular non-dance/pop songs like "How Will I Know?" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody".

I like Lovesexy too, but I think most people see the scrapping of The Black Album as something of a turning point.
"I Will Always Love You" is horrible elevator music. Dolly's original was a beautiful little song, Whitney's generic '90s power ballad production and overbearing yelling are offensive to anyone with good taste (and sense).

Her voice is on the songs, people loved those songs, people are still trying to sing like her and are still making songs based upon those songs. Fail #3.

You stan for the worst singer in the history of recorded music. You really shouldn't be talking to anyone about 'good taste'. Fail #6.

Prince.
He was bigger in the 80s plus he has a much bigger legacy that he left behind.
Definitely the more successful one out of the two.

english is not my first language and u should be aware of that, u cnt be in some lil bubble, can u? that is not the point anyway, if my perspective is so irrelevant why did u had to attack me PERSONALLY and even bring CIARA to the argument. since when shes on prince and whitney level and also artist from the 80s? u have issues and go work on urself, i dont kno what u think i am that u can come at me. have some f respect for urself.

Omg, drag him!
I can't believe how some people on here act like their opinion on music is a fact, when it's just subjective. she had plenty of good songs and even the bad ones were decent to listen to because her voice was so beautiful. She is without a doubt the best singer who lived and her "impact" can be seen everywhere on singers today, most of them are influenced by her. I mean just watch The Voice, X Factor etc. All these talent shows To see all the wannabes on there who imitate her and want to sound like her. If that is not impact then I don't know what is.

Celine has no impact outside of sales. Mariah is a product of Whitney's template. Whitney was bigger than Madonna. Get over it.
