But you are right about that tracking period for their official year end charts so they're using two different criteria I guess between the chart and the article.

From a similar aritcle rating them in the same way, BEYONCÉ still comes in at #6 for 2014. That is hardly a bad statistic for an album that supposedly "tanked" a month after debut.

Frontloaded isn’t even really the shade people want it to be. It just means that a lot of people were buying your album all at once, and if you didn’t promote it, that is a positive statistic. Everyone was talking about your album rather than you having to promote it throughout the year and force-feed people radio singles in order to convince them to buy an album that hardly anyone bought when it was released. Unless you’re an indie band no one knows about, this isn’t the great thing people make it out to be.

It's unfair to compare like that.
Beyonce was release in Dec 13, it had only 3 weeks of December, sure it would drop on Jan.
BTW was release in May, MDNA was released in March.

You guys have selective memories. You take it dipping in sales and covert it to dropping like a rock.

It's first sales weeks in 2013 weren't counted by Billboard for 2013 in that chart, they were added onto 2014. The year end charts don't count the last few weeks of the year it's for, and they count the last few weeks of the year prior.
