But what I'm really trying to say is, even if there were no possible nominees that were minorities (I'm sure there were) there SHOULD BE
There's NO excuse for 100% white people for 20 nominations..in 2016, it's really sad

This isn't hard to comprehend.

3. What kind of mental illness are we even talking about here? Someone with Down syndrome is not going to be able to play roles convincely outside of a character who does have Down syndrome too.

Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder, not a mental illness.

These boring white stories are getting old
There needs to be more roles for people of color in major films
|
This is about acting categories aka only 4 of them (best lead x2 best supporting x2)

(I can't name them all. My post would be a little tooling)
This isn't about diversity. It's about blacks not being nominated and they matter more and deserve one on race alone and other minorities don't need to be acknowledged. And it's a problem
|
What? This is absolutely about diversity. And pointing out the fact that black weren't nominated isn't implying that other people of color don't matter. This is a really white way of thinking.

100% agreed! The thing is that has more to do with the film industry than the Academy. The Academy is a reflection of the industry, not the root cause.

I agree. There should be more Hispanics and Asian people in the Oscars, they DESERVE to be rewarded for their HARD work

I mean this is no surprise. Not very many people of other races are valued in the industry & Shame on some monsters in the thread for making this about her while being unintentionally racist in the process.

Idris was snubbed, SOC was nominated.
Abel surprised and got nominated for Earned It.
What else would you like?

SOC screenplay was nominated which was basically written by all white men so what would you like ?

Well it's about performances, not the skin colour? If you think there should be more baity roles for black people then the studios are to blame not the Academy

Honestly, these protests just hurt causes. Did the Oscars nominate any LGBT, Asian, Latina, etc. people last year and this year? Anyone with any kind of mental disorder? Any children? (I haven't checked, so again, correct me if in wrong) No? Wow! They must hate all LGBT, Asian, Latina people, all people with mental disorders, and all children. Or maybe no one in said groups was Oscar worthy this year. It happens

idk why I even come on this site anymore.

Lol. People need to do their research. If you're going to argue which films and actors did or didn't deserve to be nominated, at least be knowledgeable.
Beasts of No Nation, Creed, Concussion, and Straight Outta Compton were critical successes. And the performances in each were nearly universally praised. So don't say "Well, maybe no Black people deserved to be nominated." They did. Not to mention many films featuring other minorities.
A contributing factor to this year's white out is the majority of the Academy are white, elderly males, half of which don't even bother to watch all 55 films and make educated nominations.
It's sad.

LMAOOOOOOOOO
You literally HAVE to be joking if you think blacks think like this. Get a ****ing GRIP
I as a black person see black people try to stand in solidarity with other minorites all the time....only to find out that they are anti-black as well!!! Isn't that crazy? But that's another story....

Yes, it is always the case? Down Syndrome is always associated with an extra copy of chromosome 21 in people. It has symptoms of other abnormalities, but stating that a genetic disorder is a mental illness is quite ignorant.

No your point weak. You said because people with mental disorders didn't get nominated, the Oscar committee must either hate them or they didn't deserve noms this year, and you implied the outrage does more harm than good so I know you're insinuating the latter. Now time to explain why this argument is stupid.
1. How do you know that no one nominated had a mental illness?
2. How many mentally ill people are there in Hollywood altogether?
3. What kind of mental illness are we even talking about here? Someone with Down syndrome is not going to be able to play roles convincely outside of a character who does have Down syndrome too.
You need to stop.
|
Even if you cross that out, my point on other races and LGBT stands.
1. I actually said in the post I'm not 100% and I could be wrong and to correct me, but I believe that no one with an open mental disorder was nominated. Not that private ones don't matter, but that's like nominating a closeted LGBT person and saying you're representing LGBTs
2. I imagine the number is surprisingly high gong by statistics, even if they don't draw attention to it
3. Even something as simple as clinical depression would count

You are so transparent and annoying.
I bet you haven't even seen Concussion, Creed or Beasts of No Nation to make that statement and I love how people on here suddenly care about other minorities whenever black people complain about something, I can't.
Anyway, I've haven't seen most of the movies/acting performances nominated so I can't really say who deserved what over who but it's gonna be so awkward with Chris Rock hosting
