5. Les Revenants
The Returned ( or Les Revenants if you're fancy/french) was one of my favorite shows of 2014, landing at the #2 spot i think. Just with the beautiful cinematography, beautiful people, and copious dick shots it already could've been one of my favorite shows, but it also had an a very intriguing premise and story to go along with it. This season felt different in a way i can't explain, but it was still pretty fantastic especially towards the back end of the season. People didn't like how much was explained (but then again people love to complain when things AREN'T explained enough in a show so you can never win can you?) but I thought it was the perfect balance of exposition and vagueness if that makes sense. The finale almost made me cri a few times too, and no other show got me to do that. If this season was the end of the line for the show i would feel very satisfied, but another season wouldn't hurt either!
4. Mr. Robot
I wanted to use a gif here because Rami Malek is so darn cute! This show was not something I was interested in at all, but then my grandma forced me to watch a few episodes and I was instantly hooked. Rami was really mesmerizing in this role, and his character is someone you're rooting for so badly and it can be so heartbreaking to watch. There were some really gut wrenching moments that just leave you feeling stunned after watching. Besides him, the unique cinematography and the supporting cast (the side story of tyrell and his scary ass wife are enough for a show on its own) really are more than enough to warrant this a watch.
3. Fargo
Although it is probably a more perfectly concise and elegantly crafted season than the first, I still find myself preferring the first season for some reason (it was my #1 show last year). Although there isn't much to complain about here! Having the show tell the story of a case Molly's dad worked on in 1979 was an ingenious move, and the story here was the undoubtedly the best of the year. Every separate storyline here was equally compelling, and there were so many good performances here I would probably need another hand to count them all. Kirsten Dunst was an easy favorite, and seemed to be everyone else's as well. Nick Offerman delivered a funny and moving role, Ted Danson and Patrick Wilson were great as the "good guys", and showed off more acting chops than I expected. Not to mention Jean Smart, Jesse Plemons (who had an understated but really great role I think) Jeffrey Donocan, etc. The best ensemble cast in a show this year. Pretty much if you aren't watching this show, get your **** together and binge now!
2. The Americans
No show spaces itself out as well as The Americans. Over it's 3 seasons it's really shown a restraint in its storytelling, leaving things to culminate perfectly after many episodes of set up (a certain event this season is especially what I'm thinking of, and what so many shittier shows would've been done and over with in the first season finale). The relationship between Elizabeth and Phillip is one of the most interesting dynamics, and seeing how it plays out throughout the show is one of the reasons it's so good. This season especially brought it in in chilling moments and incredible guest performances. No episode is wasted and each character is acted to perfection. I do not have a single complaint about this show.
tl;dr all these shows r gud
What could #1 be tho? Hmmmmmm...
