Im sure a few little things may be different as far as rock bands and etc... yet and still musicians love music because it flows through their veins. But Beyonce got all of her mojo from Tina Turner who gained fame around the same time as The Beatles. You make it seem like without them music wouldn't exist when it was here before them and still is long after them.
Let us not forget the millions of artists sitting in their homes with genius songs on paper that were turned away because of their skin color in the 60's, they would have found a break sooner or later. ![Angelo](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/angelo_zps911317d1.gif)

There is no argument that the Beatles did not have a lasting and profound impact on the music scene in the 60s that carried forward. You can't speculate on what things would be like without them, but one thing is for sure is that music today has been influenced by the Beatles, and not just rock. They defined and shaped the dominant culture of the west in the 1960s. The 60s "Cultural Revolution" is commonly attributed or associated with the Beatles, so not only did they shape music, but also a generation and society as a whole. This is why the Beatles are regarded so highly and considered one of the most important musical acts of the 20th century. So, to go back to your original claim, no, they really aren't overrated.
