avril and gaga are obviously nothing like adele tho
personally, i don't really care for the mariah/celine comparisons to adele, atho 25 has more mariah-esque stuff. they were a huge thing in japan in the 90's, dunno bout last 5 years tho.
but otherwise i guess you have to ask a japanese why, clearly they, basically alone in the industrialised World, don't really use Adele
