She went on such a tangent, the question had nothing to do with that

Maybe a little bit but not really, they asked if she's ever had to do things she didn't want to do, and that was just an example.

So Kelly does the same thing Beyoncé does. She's capable of composing and writing lyrics at the same time, Beyoncé has been doing that since DC. She also had her times where her writing was made fun of, like when Mathew took one of Beyoncé written songs, Independent Woman, and they didn't want to make it a single because they thought it would flop. Turns out it went #1 for 11 weeks.

First of all, you said she didn't write a thing in her entire life, you didn't refer yourself just to composing. Also people above me gave you enough proof that she can also write a melody (yes, with other people).
And lemme not talk about your fave who basically gets her melody as it is, changes a few things here and there and calls it hers. I am thankful (yes, she even contributed on her first album with songwriting even if she came from a talent show) Kelly is not like that.

Ugh this is what I'm talking about, how many times do I have to say that Beyoncé also gets credits for the harmonies she makes, why wouldn't she?
Beyoncé's music, especially now, is loaded with harmonies, its what her music is all about. I wouldn't even stan for her if it wasn't for that. Her touch is why I buy her music, all of it is pure gold.

I love it when Kelly spills tea on some things in the industry. First the female pop stars refusing to perform with each other, then this. Bring something more, Kelly!
I'm fairly sure she speaks about MLWSWY, maybe about SUBG as well.

Kelly has 3 ASCAP writing awards though.
And there are many receipts of demo versions of songs she has recorded and her final versions that show many lines being re-written and parts being reworked.

Educate ha!
And @ Timber: Songwriter of the Year award? So? Any ASCAP award = any other ASCAP award. Remind me please which fanbase was boasting about their fave winning some flop Grammys while loosing AOTY, saying that any Grammy = any other Grammy. Just saying.

Because "making harmonies" isn't writing. Especially if the melody is already there....you could even use a machine to put harmonies on it, a person doesn't have to do it. Putting your spin on a song is called interpreting. Kelly records loads of harmonies too, but she doesn't give herself writing credits for that.

"Get over myself" cuz I can't watch the video due to the fact I'm running in and out of meetings and reading in the 5 min breaks I have? People are disgustingly rude for no reason.
But from what I already know of her, Kelly needs to stop being a pushover and be more assertive. If she doesn't get paid, it's her own damn fault for not putting her foot down.

fff as if harmonies are difficult to make when the melody is already created.
Anyone can do a harmony; just go up or down a third, fifth or octave for the most common harmonies that Bey uses. NOTHING special or difficult, especially for someone who has gotten some sort of classical training.
Only the musically challenged will think creating a harmony is difficult.

This is not true. Sometimes it's a situations like this:
Quote:
this company sometimes likes to collaborate on certain pieces of music, and all deals will be done on a case-by-case basis.
|
And then other times it's like this:
Quote:
Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll keep 100% of the Writer's share (and any applicable performance royalties), and the company will get 100% of the Publishing.
|
So basically, some songwriters keep what they deserve and sometimes it's on a case by case situation where sometimes you might get little to nothing and you either take it or leave it. As a songwriter, these are things that you know. It's how the industry works.

This, I love when people say that counts as song writing. Well, only delusional people do who want their fave to be considered a songwriter. Lmfao
